Our work...

For the moment we assist a number of 20 children at "Izolator" section of the Children Hospital from Oradea. The children are between some weeks and 10-12 months old. Since 1996 when we started our work we have helped more than 200 children.

We offer: love and individual care for every child, food (cereals, fruits, vitamins etc), clothing, disposable diapers (Pampers), toys, others. We are the only people who take the children outside from their hospital rooms and play with them in the playing room or in the nearby park. Otherwise they would spend all their time in beds. Here are some pictures that reflect our work:

Your donations are very useful

The food we offer is welcomed and needed because the food children receive in the hospital is not enough for their needs. It is not unusual for a child of 1 year and more to never ever tasted an apple, a banana, an orange, a kiwi, a yogurt, an egg, meat, cheese, a chocolate, a cake etc. I never saw children receiving fruits from the hospital or anything else mentioned before. Also I never saw them receive meat even they were 2 years old. Most of the time they receive milk, other time they receive carrot juice or soup. This is why children do not develop well.

Also, children do not receive disposable diapers from the hospital. Why are disposable diapers important for the abandoned children? They are extremely important because these children spend a lot of time in their beds so they need at least to feel comfortable. When I first came to the hospital I saw many children older then 3 years who couldn't at least sit speakless of walk. I know it is hard to believe, for me it was too. But that can be confirmed by everyone who visited or worked in the hospital at that time. I saw children who had wet diapers which weight more then themselves. That because the nurse intending to prevent the bed to be wet put a lot of cotton diapers to a child. This deformed children's legs seriously and we had lots of problems helping them to recover this and start to walk. This is why when some our sponsors offered to pay for disposable diapers we could see the great change in the comfort and health of the children.

Children do not receive toys from the hospital and they are not stimulated to play, to get contact with other children by the hospital staff. This because the staff is not recompensed or trained to work with perfectly normal children. They are supposed to treat ill people. So, if there is no NGO or volunteers to complete the hospital staff work, the children would just sit in their beds all their day. I know I use to take children in the nearby park, children who never left the hospital even if they were some years old. We have a play room where we take the children to play with each other and also let them move freely, walk, sit etc. Also, whenever is possible we take the children outside.

When I came to the section I work now all the children were wearing a gray skirt and instead of pants they had some red towels. They looked very depressing. With the help of our sponsors we could offer them new colorful clothing. Children were amaised! They kept on looking and starring at their cloths and they didn't know what happened with them :) Also with the help of our sponosrs we could change a little bit of the enviroment of these children. Still, there are many more to be done.
