Creative Corner is here primarily to serve your Tole and Decorative Painting needs....although we do a lot more than that. We maintain a vast library of patterns and are able to order most products you will need. We have raw wood on the shelf and can custom cut almost anything you may need.

Our students are painting at all levels and paint for every season and Holiday there is.

If you do not have an artistic flare and would like something custom painted, we will be happy to quote a price; due to the time pressures of a heavy teaching schedule it is helpful to place your order with plenty of delivery time.

Although we also teach Fabric Painting, Oil Painting and Watercolor, our supplies for these arts are limited. For details on these artforms see below.

Our students range in age from 11 to ?? (you really didn't think we'd tell did you?). A large number of our students have won top prizes at regional arts and crafts conpetitions. We are proud to say our students have won First Places and Best of Show awards at the California State Fair.

We invite you to come in and browse the shop and have a cup of coffee or tea with us whenever you're in the neighborhood. However, we do warn you that this artform is contagious, and can make you smile and giggle almost to excess; come prepared for fun and .........

About Classes

Class schedules are arranged for the student needs. They are designed to fit your schedule. Teaching goes on all day. You may come in at any time on any day or days that suit your needs. Class fees are charged on a 2 ˝ hour basis. All Classes are intermixed with students with skills ranging from Beginning to Advanced. Beginning students may start at any time provided they give advance notice to assure that all supplies are available the day they wish to start. Evening classes must be pre-scheduled due to limited seating. More details may be noted below..


Requirements

All students, while in class, paint on wood purchased from Creative Corner. Exceptions to this requirement are made and a higher class fee charged.


Beginning Tole & Decorative Painting Classes

Painters who have taken a few classes at other locations are encouraged to do the beginning class projects. These projects are intended to teach and reinforce the basic concepts and techniques of decorative (Tole) painting; wood preparation, basing, floating, stippling, stroke work, taping, spattering, varnishing and brush care.

Beginners: 3 Projects are required. When these three projects are completed the student is free to chose any project desired.

Project 1: Teddy Bear

Number of classes to complete: 2-3
Class Length: 2˝ hours
Class Fee: $8.00 per class
Material Cost: $62.00 approx. (includes all required materials)
Note: All materials for these classes may be used for future painting projects

Project 2: Carousel Horse

 Number of classes to complete: 2-3
Class Length: 2˝ hours
Class Fee: $8.00 per class
Material Cost: $33.00 approx. (includes all required materials)

Project 3: House Key Holder

 Number of classes to complete: 2-3
Class Length: 2˝ hours
Class Fee: $8.00 per class
Material Cost: $11.50 approx. (includes all required materials)

The approximate cost of the beginning classes is $160.00. When the classes are complete, the student will have all of the basic supplies, brushes, paints, etc., to do a large number of projects.

Intermediate and Advanced Classes:

There are no set class projects. Painters may choose from hundreds of projects in Creative Corner's vast library, or think up their own projects using wood from catalogues, on hand, or custom designed and cut by the store. There are no set times for for either intermediate or advanced students. We find that by mixing the skill levels of the students, everyone will see new techniques being applied and will have old skills reinforced. Even though the classes are mixed, each student receives individual instruction on the techniques and skills they are lacking or may need to have reinforced.

Class length: 2˝ hours


Watercolor

One project is required for beginning watercolor.
Number of classes to complete: 2-3
Class Length: 2˝ hours
Class Fee: $8.00 per class
Materials cost and use of instructors brushes - $5.00
Limited number of brushes available, so please reserve time and day. Matting and framing are at extra cost.


Fabric Painting

Available upon request. Please call or stop in for details


Oil Painting
Available upon request. Please call or stop in for details


Special Projects and Classes

 From time to time we teach special classes for specific projects. These classes may be no more than one or two sessions and are designed to teach you the techniques to produce a painted wooden stool, a specific Christmas ornament or item, a special sweatshirt design or some other item. Check the store for classes that we may be offering.

If you, or a group of friends would like to learn how to paint a specific project, we will be happy to organize the class(es) required and order any of the materials that are required.
