I lived in Barnsdall with my family from 1959 to 1964, age seven to twelve.
I will try to make this webpage more about the town as it was then rather than just a collection of childhood photos.

The most unusual attraction is the Main Street Oil Well, shown here in an early photograph.

The well was completed on March 16, 1914, at a depth of 1771 feet.

View from the rear, showing most of the town's Main Street.

I knew both of these bridges well...no Idea if either one is still there.

I used to eat lunch here as a seventh grader...hamburgers were twenty-five cents, diced pickles and onions mixed in with the meat.
Interesting architecture
housed Hightower's Grocery and Market.
Notice not only the prices in
the ad, but also the store's phone number, which was 3.
Our house and the First Baptist
Church where my father was pastor. Neither building is there now,
the house was moved, the church building burned in a fire.
Here my younger brother and I pose showing a closer look at the church bulding. The rocks in the
outer wall contained many shell fossils, and was similar to the structure
of Hightower's Grocery (see above).
I was about eight, Terry was six.
Inside the house, my eighth
birthday party.
Notice the wall phone; if memory serves the
number was 242, the same number as the church. In order to call the church
we would ask the operator to Ring this number, please.
From left to right, Alfred Swanson, Belinda Teague, Terry (my brother), Johnny Bob Sanford, myself, Kenny Swalley, Priscilla Teague, Brenda Hanson.
