Origin of Quincy Rescue-1 called “Special Service” truck. It carried lights, a circular saw, 2 elevator jacks, blowtorches, an inhallator, and one gas mask

1932 

$2.5 million fire at the Victory Plant in Squantum.  It was a General Alarm plus Boston Fireboat Engine 44 and Engines 20, 12, and 26

1938 

Quincy Drill School formerly established

November 28. Coconut Grove Night Club fire, Boston, MA (492 deaths). This fire showed the need for practical improvements. UL stepped up research on combustibles in public places.

Quincy sends fire ambulance to help

QFD is doing a 70 hour work week

Special Service truck renamed Rescue-1
