STEP ONE
Open a new 24 bit image large enough to accomodate your text. Fill with your choice of textured background. Here I am using a texture from my free tiles page and a size of 275x55.

STEP TWO
Add a new layer. (Layers/New Raster Layer/OK). Now choose a color that matches your textured background, and place your text on the new layer with that color. I am using a text color of #EBBC6B, with the font Arial Black and a size of 28.

STEP THREE
Add 2 drop shadows (Image/Effects/Drop Shadow...). First, with the settings: color=black, opacity=80, blur=4, vert/horiz=2. Second with the settings: color=black, opacity=80, blur=4, and vert/horiz=negative 2.

STEP FOUR
Now de-select your text, and open your Layer Palette. Decrease the opacity of layer 1 until your text is suitable. I've set mine at 50.

STEP FIVE
Now merge your layers (Layers/Merge/Merge All). You are finished!!
