A small guide to the route numbers on this map:
CA 17 - north of CA 9 is what is mostly now I-880.
CA 5 - all is now CA 35, the map MAY be marking Great Highway and Geary as part of the highway too (those two were freeway corridors later proposed in 1947, but rescinded).
CA 9 - follows some of CA 85, CA 236, CA 237, CA 262 and CA 238.
Bolsa Road - now CA 25
US 101A - later US 101, now CA 82 (and a small portion in SF as I-280)
US 40 - now I-80
