Sunset Boulevard is a major arterial with C/D roads, much like Park Presidio Boulevard is. However, it is not sure whether like Park Presidio, it was supposed to be converted to full freeway.
Whatever the reasons for the strange "parkway" setup that Sunset Boulevard has, it was blessed with two minor interchanges at its southern and northern termini - Lincoln Way and Sloat Boulevard (CA 35). The Sloat Boulevard overcrossing was built in a very unique, eclectic style not found anywhere else.
The northern interchange is a simple half-diamond that takes advantage of the C/D roads, 36th and 37th Avenue, as trafficways into Lincoln Way. The southern interchange is a half-cloverleaf which has ramps for eastbound Sloat Boulevard (northbound CA 35) but you must take Yorba Street to reach westbound Sloat Boulevard.
