Raising Quality New Zealand Reds, Whites & Mini Lops

Hi all! Welcome to the NEW home on the web of Sayers Dam Rabbitry. We raise Top Quality New Zealand Reds & Whites and Mini Lops.

We began with rabbits when Ben entered three rabbits in the Schuylkill County fair. The next year the competition was to breed and raise a meat pen. Breeding and raising baby bunnies was fun! We were hooked. After winning Reserve Champion meat pen and Grand Champion Showmanship that year, Ben was encourage to join ARBA. Betty Kellicut, a breeder in the area actually paid Ben's first year youth membership in ARBA and convinced us to attend our first ARBA show at the PA state rabbit convention. Ben started out raising New Zealand Whites, Mini Lops, Holland Lops and Mini Rex, but about 3 years ago Ben decided to concentrate on New Zealands. Mom, (Lisa) was hooked on showing rabbits too by then and moved from support team to partner, taking over the Mini Lops. Today Ben raises New Zealand Reds and Whites. His whites have taken 1st place meat pen at 2003 Pennyslvania Farm Show, and 2nd place meat pen at 2004 Pennsylvania Farm Show. He continues to do well with New Zealands and is excited with the addition of the Reds 2 years ago.

Lisa raises the mini lops, she enjoys unusual colors, but is also learning to pick on body type over colors. Mini Lops have done well, with several BOV and BOS wins in the last two years. we pride ourselves in not only good show animals, but also in providing the public with gentle healthy pets that are handled from birth and very used to kids.
