Episode #9761
Tape date – various
Director – Phil Sogard

Summary: Sorry everyone…my reception really SUCKS this morning and was hard to see and hear the tape…since we are buried beneath a foot of new snow! LOL. But I got the gist of it. Bonnie and Mimi learn that Patrick is in town…Julie runs to Marlena for help…Nicole frantically tries to figure out how to get in the safe…Hope is worried about Jen…and despite Celeste’s warnings, Doug confronts Marlena.

At Green Mountain Lodge…Mimi and Rex are enjoying their Valentine’s getaway. They talk about being poor and how she doesn’t care. They have lots of bed scenes and also have strawberries and chocolates. He asks how he is over the killings and he says he is dealing with it as they talk about Cassie and Tony’s deaths. Rex also talks about how he feels sorry for Kate but Mimi calls her a survivor and says that Rex is a lot like her. Mimi’s phone rings but she doesn’t answer, seeing it is from her mother. Later, Rex is in the shower as her phone rings again and this time, she answers it. A frantic Bonnie tells her that Patrick is back in town. Mimi is excited until Bonnie tells her something (we don’t hear) and Mimi says she is on her way. When Rex comes out, she tells him that her mom called and is in trouble. Bonnie talks to Max the dog as she feels sorry for herself how nothing ever goes right for her, telling him that mommy is in trouble. She says that she has done some rotten things and she can’t let Patrick find out.

At the Kiriakis Mansion…Bo and Hope are downstairs with the locksmith who is having a hard time with the safe. Bo is SURE that Nicole is guilty and wants to get the evidence to prove it. Lexie calls and tells Hope about her concerns with Jen and Hope is shocked that Jen let Patrick stay with her. She tells Bo as neither can believe that she would do that. Bo insists that the locksmith keep working as he tells Hope to go and check on Jen as he becomes more and more impatient with the locksmith, demanding he hurry.

Upstairs, Jan tells Nicole that she saw victor with the safe but she wasn’t really paying attention to the combination. Nicole goes for coffee to sober her up and comes back to find Jan in one of Nicole’s red negligees. Nicole calls her an idiot and tries to get her to concentrate to remember the combination. She threatens Jan trying to force her to remember. Since that doesn’t work, she tries the nice route and talks about how hot Shawn is getting Jan all excited as she talks about how she hates Belle. Later, Jan is admiring herself in the mirror and notices that Nicole has disappeared.

Downstairs, the locksmith finally announces that he got it open just as Nicole walks in. Bo turns and looks at her and says “Gotcha”.

At Jen’s…Patrick is on his phone with someone who is apparently threatening him, telling them that he is out of the country. Jen walks up and asks why he is lying and what is he hiding. He makes up a story about missing some work due to his injury. Hope calls and gives Jen the third degree about Patrick staying there. She thinks that Jen is being naïve and tells her that she is coming over. Patrick calls Bonnie (“mother”) and tells her that he is back…to get what is rightfully his. Cue shocked look from Bonnie. After she gets off the phone, Jen tells Patrick that Hope is coming over. He fakes a backache and tells her that he is going upstairs to take a hot shower, but feel free to send Hope up when she gets there. Later, Hope arrives worried about Jen and wants to meet Patrick. She is very suspicious of him and even more so when Jen tells her about feeling the baby kick and letting Patrick feel it as well. She reiterates how concerned she is for Jen and reminds her about being a reporter and all the con men out there. But naïve Jen sticks up for Patrick, saying that he knew Jack. But Hope is suspicious and wants to meet him. She heads up the apartment and walks in on him naked as he says as she can see, he has nothing to hide (LOL). She tells him to get dressed and get down to Jen’s living room. Back with Jen, Hope asks her if Patrick showed her that “he has nothing to hide” (LOL). She tells Jen that she is going to do a background check on him as he is eaves dropping from the foyer.

Doug is still with Celeste…and asks her if the death card means what he thinks it means. She urges him to go directly to the police but he finds it hard to believe who he thinks it is and wants to be sure first. He intends on confronting her first, but Celeste tells him not to do that. He reconsiders and says that he will call Hope first and Celeste is glad to hear that. Doug thanks her and grabs his coat and rushes off, saying he is going to find Hope. In the hall, he says that he has to talk with someone else first. After he leaves, the tea leaves around the candle burst into flames and Celeste runs after him. But he is already gone. He says it is too late, the killer will be waiting on him.

Marlena…is pacing around her office as she remembers her conversation with Julie. (Question #1…what time is it and WHAT is Marlena doing there that late??) Apparently, Marlena has told Julie to come right over so she can see how much SHE knows as she picks up a letter opener as Julie arrives. She tells Marlena that Doug knows who the killer is and he has gone to the police. She is frantic and tells Marlena that Doug wouldn’t tell her anything. Marlena assures her that if he keeps the information to himself, he will be okay, otherwise others will die. Julie comments that she sounds like she knows the killer’s mind as Marlena says “we’re on in the same” and Julie stares at her. Marlena explains that she has been working with the police and has gotten in the killer’s mind and understands her. She is feeling proud as she says that the killer is intelligent and crafty and refuses to get caught. But Julie says to her she is a maniac…a frigid, self-consumed bitch who must have a miserable life (as Marlena picks up the letter opener…watch out Julie! Tame that mouth!) Julie gets a message from Alice…it seems that Celeste has called looking for Doug. Marlena makes her pager go off and tells Julie that she has to run. Before she leaves, Julie tells Marlena if she sees Doug, to please keep an eye on him.

Julie…goes over to see Celeste and asks what is going on and why is she looking for Doug. Julie learns that he came there first and is upset that he didn’t go see Hope first. Celeste warns her that he is in grave danger. She tells Julie what happened and that Doug left to go and see Hope. But Celeste has a bad feeling and tells Julie that the killer is on to him. Julie is upset as she tells her that the ONLY people she talked to were her, Alice and Marlena. HOW could the killer know? The wind blows the windows open and the angel candle flickers. Celeste says “O God NO!”

Marlena…goes to the church confessional and is talking with the priest (disguising her voice). She tells him that she wants to confess and asks for help. She tells him that she has an urge to hurt someone. He offers to get her help, but she rushes off. Outside, she sees Doug in the graveyard by Addie’s grave talking to her. He turns and sees Marlena and walks over there. As they come face to face, Doug tells her that he was looking for her, he has some questions. She says “what a coincidence…I was looking for you too.”…as the previews show…

On the Next DAYS OF OUR LIVES…

Hope telling Bonnie she has questions about her son Patrick as Bonnie asks if he is in trouble…

Patrick tells Jen if she is uncomfortable with him staying there, just say the word…

Bo tells the locksmith they have wasted enough time, open the damn safe…as Nicole picks something up and throws it at them…

Doug says “It’s you, isn’t it Marlena…YOU are the serial killer” as she stares at him…

And the credits roll…

Episode #9762
Tape date – various
Director – Herb Stein

Summary: Marlena convinces Doug she's not the Serial Killer, Hope cautions Jennifer about Patrick (can't believe Jen didn't know his last name until Hope asked, LOL), and the safe is opened..but what's inside (or would it be better to say what's NOT inside?? and Brady gets the LINE OF THE DAY (see below!!).

AT JENNIFER'S, Patrick joins Hope and Jen downstairs as Hope, obviously seeing through Patrick, learns he's Mimi's brother. Jen is delighted with the news, telling him how they know both his mom and sister. She raves how Bonnie helped her redistribute all the food after Jack's funeral and helped clean up and did the same for Uncle Mickey after Maggie was gone. You can tell how he knows how his mom cleaned up as he agrees with Jen, saying that's his mom.

Bo calls Hope to tell her the safe's about to be opened. She wants to come, but he tells her not to, stay with Jen. He figured Victor knew what he was doing with the new will and safe and Nicole's killing spree is over.

Hope asks why Patrick's not at Bonnie's and flashes back to catching him naked outside the shower earlier (for those that missed it today). He came back to Salem to see his family, but admits leaving after they had a rift. Citing how hard it is to live with your mother is why he's not there now, but does call her on his cell. He calls Bonnie, playing nice. He tells her that he's staying at Jennifer Deveraux's and tells his mom he loves her (Bonnie) before hanging up.. Jennifer tells him how much a call like that means to a mother and tells Hope to return to Bo, he needs her. Privately Hope can't understand why Jen's being so nice to Patrick and Jen not only says because she hit him with her car, but it feels good to help someone right now. Hope still insists on running him through the police computer, especially with Jen's risky pregnancy. Jen figures it's futile, but tells her to go ahead. Alone, she thanks Patrick for his patience for the interrogation. The phone rings and it's Julie. She asks where Hope is and Jennifer tells her to Bonnie Lockharts house. Julie knows the number there, but Celeste warns her they have to find Doug.

Jennifer finally excuses herself to go up to bed. Patrick calls Bonnie and he tells her he's not going to skam Jennifer, she's too nice. Bonnie clues him in that she's a Horton and rich, to think twice about that.

AT BONNIE'S, Mimi tries to calm Bonnie as she freaks out about Patrick's return, wanting to know WHY she left GM Lodge. Bonnie lectures Mimi about always finding fault with people and will be left all by her lonesome (as Mimi repeats word for word Bonnie's lecture). She gives her a chance to say what happened and Bonnie admits spending the money Patrick left with her. Mimi reminds her she did the same to her, but Patrick won't be so quiet about it like she was and it serves Bonnie right. Bonnie tells her all the money she's earned from Mickey and Jennifer is gone and she's flat broke. She suggests Mimi sell her car, but Meems refuses (atta girl). After Patrick's call, Bonnie knows Patrick's hitting up on rich widow Jennifer and now she'll be able to get closer to Mickey without Julie interfering. Already planning her wedding ring and even a double wedding, Mimi is disgusted (as am I).

Hope visits Bonnie (and Mimi) to ask about Patrick. They verify his identity and Bonnie bubbles about hoping her son has come back to town to find a special girl to marry. Hope asks if she means her cousin Jennifer, but Bonnie says he had lots of girlfriends in high school. Mimi only tells Hope that her brother is a great guy.

AT CELESTE'S, she warns Julie the candle on fire was a bad sign (sure hope she has insurance) as she warns Julie how much danger Doug's in. Relighting the candle won't help. Julie tells Celeste that Doug forgot his cell phone at home and Julie tries to call Hope at the station (doesn't she have Hope's cell number?). They go to Marlena's office and find her gone. Celeste still has bad vibes about Doug. Julie calls Alice's and is told no word from Doug. Celeste gets a vibe that Doug is face to face with the killer. Julie reaches Hope at the Lockharts and tells her about Celeste's bad vibes. Hope said they need to rendevous at Grans and both rush off to do so.

AT THE CEMETARY, MARLENA tells Doug she talked with Julie and knows what's going on. Doug is surprised at that and point blank asks if Marlena's the serial killer. He follows her around the cemetary and will get help for her if so. She turns and asks if he thinks she could really do that as she reaches inside her purse for the letter opener. He tells her he had a dream she was the killer and it reminded him of seeing her at Tony's cubicle at the hospital. (how dumb is it for Doug to say all this to her alone and never telling or writing her name down anywhere ahead of time.) She tells him she gave Tony something for the pain and saving lives is what she does. Marlena tells Doug everyone's going through so much stress they're all becoming paranoid like they did during the Salem Witch Hunt (not the first time that was mentioned). She tells them they're almost family with Belle and his grandson almost engaged. She can't believe he'd think she'd kill the victims, citing how each one was so close to her. She was with John and others when Victor was killed, doesn't that prove she's innocent (as she fingers her letter opener). Doug apologizes to Marlena and she accepts it and they walk together. She agrees to put it behind them and stay friends. He admits not telling anyone, afraid to damage her reputation. She asks to forget this even happened and he gets a thought, which causes her to ask what it is. She hugs him and he tells her he had called Hope and left word that he knew who the SK was. Hope's going to insist on hearing what he was going to tell her....

AT THE KIRIAKIS MANSION, Bo tells Nicole to drink up as there's no imported Vodka. Brady, now wearing a sweater..hallelujah...comes downstairs and says the LINE OF THE DAY...he asks “if it's just him, but it seems like this day has lasted for weeks” (LOL!!!) Bo announces the safe's about to be opened and the squad cars are lined up outside to haul Nicole off to prison. The locksmith is anxious to open the safe now. After Bo hangs up with Hope, she tells them to stop before opening the safe, wanting an apology for a false accusation. Bo knows she had an accomplice and will find out who it was. Nicole throws a glass at them, feeling they should have treated her as a woman who lost her husband, not a killer. Bo shines that off and gets the stuff out of the safe. Bo is frustrated that they only find a deed to the house, passport and Titan business contracts in the safe. Nicole sips her Vodka in the background (now, how did she get in the safe with the locksmith and Bo there the whole time?) Aha, we see a flashback of Nicole approaching the locksmith and offering him a drink. He's got orders to continue and leaves to get another tool out of his van as Nicole rushes to the safe and tries to open it. AMAZING as it works. She gets the envelope with the evidence and even looks surprised as she reads it. Back to reality, Bo asks how she got it and we see the flashback of Nicole reading the will where Victor didn't leave her anything. She hid it behind the couch cushions when the locksmith returned and is now sitting against that cushion as Bo questions her. She asks Brady for another drink, but he tells her to get it for herself. Frustrated, Brady hits the couch pillow where she hid the envelope. Brady says he knows what's going as we see Nicole looking nervous and Bo watching Nicole..as the previews roll.....

ON THE NEXT DOOL

Nicole says she's still Mrs. Victor Kiriakis and now that he's dead, she's in charge. John says not if she's the killer...

Maggie (with poofed up hair and wearing white) visits Bonnie in the mirror. She says she knows what Bonnie is doing, trying to get Mickey's money. Not disagreeing, Bonnie says “Okay” and shrugs as if saying..so what?

Hope tells Julie to stay there (at Grans) and call Bo for back up. Daddy's life depends on it...

Marlena tells Doug it's true, she is the serial killer..as he gets a shocked look on his face...

as the credits roll...

Episode #9763
Tape date – various
Director – Roger Inman

The never-ending Valentine’s night continues, and tho Halloween is long past, ghosts, graveyards, & spooky fog plague the Salemites, who think nothing of popping in on each other in what has to be the very wee hours. The hunt for Doug goes on, as the serial killer shows remorse for her past deeds.

JOHN ARRIVES AT THE K-MANSION & Bo fills him in on the absence of the will and any incriminating evidence against Nicole in the safe. Brady thinks she knows more than she admits, while the locksmith insists there is no way anyone could have gotten into that safe w/o the combination. Cue mandatory flashback of Nik getting it from Jan and opening the safe. Nicole claims Victor probably realized his “proof” was fake and destroyed it himself before he died. Bo sez No Way. He gets a call from Hope about Doug. Locksmith leaves, Nicole orders them all out. John says there would have to be a will, Victor was a very rich man and would not destroy that item. Without a will, the widow gets all. Bo says they are going to search the place, while Nicole loudly proclaims her innocence. John & Bo are searching as John tells Bo that perhaps Nicole is not the serial killer, if Doug is missing. Julie calls Bo, (see below) and he gets John and they leave.

CELESTE IS DEALING TAROT CARDS, looking for some sign as to Doug’s whereabouts. Bonnie arrives (WHO goes visiting at 3 or 4 a.m.?? HAS to be that by now) babbling about wanting a reading into her son Patrick’s future. Celeste is preoccupied with thoughts of Doug, and goes to light the angel candle. Roman’s face appears, telling her there is no more time, she has to do something NOW. Bonnie is now going on and on about getting a love potion, but not too strong, as her gentleman friend is a bit older, but Celeste is talking to the Roman candle (get it??? lolol). Bonnie says no one is gonna stand in her way, especially that battleaxe Julie……when suddenly Angel Maggie shows up. Complete with wings and scepter. Bonnie decides to leave before Maggie’s ghost shows up, so she says, and goes to bedroom for her coat. LOL as Maggie locks the door. Now they argue, with Bonnie bragging that there may be snow on Mickey’s roof, but a few embers still glow in the furnace…..and that he has kissed her a few times, now realizing what he has missed before. (Aaarrggh….smack her!) Maggie says she knows Bonnie only wants Mickey’s money, and also wants her son to get Jen’s money. Bonnie thinks she deserves it, as she has struggled all her life. Maggie tells her she could not handle having the good life, then waves her scepter, sprinkling Bonnie with ………fairy dust?? (Please tell me we are not having Cinderella now!) Bonnie gets nervous and leaves.

Meanwhile, Roman (no longer just a face in the candle) is encouraging Celeste to help Doug, that he is in great danger, and if she doesn’t, she would be signing his death warrant. Celeste has a vision of Doug in the cemetery, and calls Hope, warning her that her father is in extreme danger in a graveyard. Roman disappears.

HOPE ARRIVES IN JULIE’S ROOM, & is told about Doug. Julie tells her that Doug thinks he knows who the killer is, would not tell her, and had left. Hope puts out an APB on Doug, and calls Bo to let him know. Gran mentions Maggie appearing to Julie, and she tells Hope about it. Hope tells them both about the attempted attack earlier that evening on Shawn D. Hope tells Julie to concentrate on Doug, and see if she gets any feelings. Julie protests she is not psychic, but does so, and gets this danger feeling. Gran mentions how foggy it is out tonight. Hope gives Alice the PDA, telling her to send a text message to everyone in Salem who knows Doug, to see if they have seen him. (Whoa, here. Bless Alice for knowing how to operate a PDA, but shouldn’t everyone in Salem actually be asleep? And EVERONE HAS A PDA??? Wow! Amazing town, our Salem!) Celeste calls, tells Hope of graveyard vision, then has another vision of Doug’s face & killer’s eyes (Marlena’s eyes). Hope runs out the door, telling Julie to call Bo. As Julie does so, she grabs her shoulder/neck area in pain. Bo says he is on his way, Julie wants to go along, but he tells her to stay put.

IN THE CHURCH GARDEN, we have a replay of Doug telling Marlena about the message he left for Hope. She questions him, and he says Hope is a cop and will ask what his suspicions were, & that he will have to explain to Hope why he suspected Marlena. But not to worry, he will tell Hope how they talked, straightened it all out, and that Marlena could not have done the killings. Marlena tells him that she guesses he has to do what he has to do…..and so does she. Now Doug mentions having visited Celeste, and the death card coming up. Marlena thinks to herself that Celeste has always been right about her victims. As Doug babbles on, Marlena gets “the look”.

As they sit on a bench, in front of a statue of the Blessed Mother, Marlena tells Doug that she IS the killer. She cries as she explains how tormented and scared she is. She tells how she almost killed her own daughter, Belle, and tried to attack his grandson, Shawn. She sobs as Doug recites all the deaths of those she loved so much, and says she needs help. She agrees, crying all the while. He tells her they should go to the police and she should turn herself in, saying he will call Hope. Marlena agrees, but Doug realizes he left his cell phone at home. Marlena claims not to have hers either, tho we can see it plainly in her purse. She tells him they can use a payphone and can shortcut thru the adjacent cemetery. As they walk, they come upon the graves of her victims and she asks Doug to stop and pray for them, that they rest in peace. He kneels down, and does so.

We now see Hope in her car, sirens blaring, hoping she gets there in time. Doug & Marlena hear a siren, wonder what is going on. Doug is praying. He ends his prayer, Marlena says Amen. She then refuses to go on and make the call to the police, and tells him that Celeste was right about the death card…….her prediction is about to come true. She raises the letter opener, which glitters, as Doug gets a surprised look on his face. AND THE PREVIEWS SHOW……

Julie & Bo in a car urging Bo to call Celeste, as she might remember something to help them find Doug. Bo says, if so. Hope would have called.

Hope, touching Tom’s headstone in the cemetery, begging him to help her find her father, as a hand reaches out and grabs her and she screams.

Sami – thinking……..”that’s why Kate offered me that job in London….she’s worried Lucas is getting closer to me

John shines his flashlight in the dark, getting closer to a hidden Marlena, who thinks …don’t let me do this to you, John. And the credits roll.

Episode #9764
Tape date – various
Director – Herb Stein

Outstanding performances by all today as the hunt for Doug continues. Major kudos to Kristian, Bill and Deidre especially! Kate realizes how close Sami and Lucas are getting and tries to separate them.

AT LUCAS' APARTMENT, Kate's typing up the directions for Will's science project (much to shirtless Lucas' dismay) as they talk about his lack of work. He shows her his resume and she's relieved to see he left off his last “good fella” position for Tony. The usual Sami warning speech before Kate leaves. Lucas surfs the net for job openings and sees Basic Black has a management position open. He wonders why his mom didn't tell him about that. Knowing Sami's an intern there, he'd be able to bark orders at her all day. Will comes out and tells Lucas he didn't finish his homework, saying they're talking about sexuality in sociology. Lucas ponders out loud that that's a little advanced for his age, isn't it? Will said his class is more advanced. Lucas said Will knows who Pamela Anderson is, what more is there to know. Will wants to know more about when he was born. Lucas assures Will he was born out of love, but Will asks if he loves his mom now. Lucas said that's between him and Sami and Will keeps persisting that his dad should be a man and tell his mom how he feels. Will says of course his mom loves him, she yells at him all the time, doesn't she?

In her own apartment, Sami pulls her diary out of a drawer and writes how she can't stop thinking about Lucas and the cave, saying she needs a cold shower just thinking about it. Realizing writing about it doesn't help, she tosses the diary on the couch. Kate knocks on the door (guess no one gets to sleep tonight) and tells Sami she's there to take care of her. Kate informs Sami that she hasn't put in a full day at work since she hired her (I'm glad she noticed!) and Sami's attitude changes when she fears Kate may be firing her. Fearing an advancement may mean cleaning the executive toilets Sami figures she should just quit and flip burgers. Kate offers her a dream job at BB and shows her the job description with great benefits and a corner office. Sami sees the job is at the London office. Kate rationalizes that Sami has a choice of her job there and watching her family members getting killed off one by one by the serial killer (ooh, low cut) or move to glamorous London where, she has on good authority, Brandon Walker is also about to relocate to. She tells Sami it's obvious she still carries a torch for Brandon and Sami admits he's the one that got away and wonders how it would have been. Kate tells her they all got away (ouch) and it's time for Sami and Will to have a fresh start. Kate shows Sami a brochure on the school that “William and Henry” went to, saying if she took this job she could give Will all the advantages he wouldn't have there. CEO's are the new royalty and Will could eventually own his own company with the proper education. Sami asks what she has to do for the job. Kate tells her she has to fill out an application for the job. Sami figures that John would give a year of his life to get her out of the country. She remembers the fact that Celeste predicted John would kill her mother and she can't run out on her. Kate offers to call Marlena (would love her cell phone to ring just about now), but Sami goes to get her resume from the bedroom. Lucas knocks on the door, surprised Kate's there. She tells him Sami works for her, but he knows it's after midnight (way beyond midnight folks..like 3 weeks or so)...as she starts up again about how wrong it would be for him and Sami to “merge”. Lucas warns her that she's wasting her time in trying to break them up. Sami overhears and knows Kate offering her the job to keep her away from Lucas. She wonders if there really could be something between them.

MEANWHILE, BO AND JOHN are driving with sirens blaring as Bo calls Hope (yeah, he's driving too) enroute to St. Lukes. She's in the hall at the Salem Inn to see Celeste, hoping for more information. She's so scared and close to tears as he tries to calm and reassure her.

Celeste tells Hope that Doug came to see her as she struggles to relight the “Roman” angel candle. She tells Hope the spirits confirmed Doug's suspicion of the killer's identity. Hope can't believe Celeste didn't get the killer's identity from Doug and Celeste admits being afraid to know. She defends she did help in any way she could. The candle finally stays lit and Celeste's excited that means Doug's still alive. Hope isn't buying into this until the candle ignites into flames (waiting for the smoke detector or sprinklers to kick in myself, LOL). Celeste brings out another angel candle (hey, wouldn't you love to invite her to your candle party?) and goes to light it. Hope doesn't have time for this nonsense and asks Celeste to tell her more details and do less spirit raising. Celeste tells Hope that her crystals helped Doug and maybe can also help Hope, being she looked into the killer's eyes, to get the truth from them.

AT THE CEMETARY, Marlena's got Doug in her grasp as they struggle over the letter opener. He tells her that her killing spree is over as the police are there now. John yells “hold it right there” and they both look up. As Marlena is struggling to hold Doug's mouth with one gloved hand (c'mon Doug, use your elbow bud) we see Julie rushing out telling them not to shoot, it's her. Marlena spots an open grave (tsk tsk) and pushes Doug in. He falls on his back unconscious and she leaps onto him (picture someone parachuting out of a plane type of jump). Bo tells Julie to stay put as he and John check out the cemetary. Julie looks down and finds she's at Tom Horton's grave and Maggie's is next to it. Julie calls out to Doug and he wakes up in the grave, calling Julie's name softly. Marlena grabs him and tells him, no, it's not his darling Julie, but his killer. John flashes his flashlight over the top of the empty grave, but walks by without looking into it. He joins Bo and Julie, who insists on helping or will stay there by herself. Bo reluctantly agrees to take her with them. Marlena whispers to Doug that she couldn't have planned this better. A few cuts and he'll be dead and buried. We return to Doug finally putting up a valiant fight. He tells her he doesn't want to hurt her, but as she continues to jab at him (she got him in the gut), he punches her in the face and she falls to the ground. As she goes to get up, he kicks her in the face (hmmm, how's she going to explain those bruises I wonder) she continues to fight with him.

In the back seat of Bo's car, Julie suggests that they check with Celeste for any updates, it's better then just driving around. Hope answers, saying it's hopeless there, but Celeste said she sees something. She sees Tom Horton's name, his tombstone. Hope tells Bo and he kicks the sirens on. Hope asks Celeste if it's too late. Celeste feels there may still be time as Hope dashes off to the cemetary as well.

Back at the cemetary we see Doug crawling out of the hole and running away in the fog. Marlena also pulls herself out of the grave. She doesn't see where Doug is, but Doug yells for help as he tries to open the locked door at St. Lukes. Marlena finds him there and tells him he can't change fate. She reminds him about singing the song ALWAYS at family events and how everyone cried. She asks if there's a song called NEVER AGAIN and proceeds to stab him with the letter opener below the neck. Doug gasps and moans as she watches curiously before stabbing him again. He's able to punch her in the face and struggles away as Marlena gets off the ground. Holding his neck, Doug runs through the cemetary. Marlena calls out for him, saying she's a doctor and knows how much pain he's in. It's gotta hurt every time he breathes. Doug for once is silent as he crouches in the dark. To herself she says she's going to make him pay for this and he'll be so sorry. Doug takes some paper out and dipping his finger in his own blood, tries to print Marlena's name as Marlena calls out for him. She hears sirens nearby and urges Doug to come out. As John and Bo (the only cops in Salem apparently) search, Julie calls Doug's name out. He answers as best he can (a whisper) as Marlena hides behind a tombstone, hoping Doug's dead. Hope rushes in and they worry it's too late.. John flashes his light around the tombstone Marlena's hiding behind as she holds her letter opener at the ready, hoping she won't have to kill John as well. Bo finds fresh blood on the ground and calls John over. Marlena realizes she has to get out of there. Doug finishes printing Marlena's name and crawls over to the back of Tom Horton's tombstone. He digs out some dirt below the stone and buries half the paper there. Hope walks up to Grandpa and asks his help to find her dad when Doug reaches around and grabs her leg. Hope screams (great job by Kristian in these scenes).then rushes around to find Doug. Cradling him as he tries to point at the paper with Marlena's name on it, Bo and John rush over and call for help. Julie's inside, lighting a candle (how did she get in the church when Doug found it locked?). Marlena watches from nearby, hood up on her head, telling herself that “your daddy is dying Hope”. Hope cries and begs Doug to stay with them, how much she and Julie love him as Bo holds Doug's head and John goes to investigate. He sees Marlena running away and to himself, says “Doc?”...as the previews roll...

Shawn tells Belle that as long as she wears this cross, his grandmother is always looking out for her...the necklace falls off and Belle says “Oh my God”....

Lucas tells Sami he needs to really know how she feels about him, and he needs to know right now....

Bo holds Hope as she tells him how much she loves him (talking about Doug)..

Marlena is hiding and John says it's going to end right here...right now. Marlena to herself, “ I'm sorry to say, John, that's truer than you think.”

as the credits roll

Have the tissues ready today, as Doug takes his last breath, while John falls into Marlena’s trap, a horrified Celeste decides to take a stand, & Kate, Sami & Lucas have a go round. Julie, Doug & Hope are heartbreaking today – Kudos to the cast. Excellent performances.

LUCAS & KATE ARGUE about her job offer to Sami. He knows she is trying to get Sami away from him, cause he told Kate about his feelings for Sami, who is eavesdropping as usual. Lucas gets a call from Tony’s attorney, and leaves, telling his mother he is only tying up some loose ends. Sami comes out, and blows up at Kate. They argue big time, mostly about Lucas. Sami cannot believe Kate would send Will out of the country, away from his father, just to keep him away from Sami. Lucas returns, says not over his dead body. Sami leaves so they can talk, but listens outside the door. Lucas & Kate argue some more, and Kate opens the door, to show Lucas the eavesdropping Sami. She tells Lucas how Sami heard him talk of his true feelings for her. Lucas asks Kate to leave, then tells Sami it is enough of the games. He wants to know how she really feels about him, and right now.

BELLE IS ON THE FIRE ESCAPE as she cannot sleep. Shawn joins her (today is his turn to be shirtless), & tells her it is cold out there, bringing a blanket to cover her. (So he can come out shirtless in the cold, but tis too cold for her, huh?) They talk of the attack on Shawn’s bed, and whoever the girl was who was in it. He mentions giving her his grandmother’s cross to wear, saying it will always protect her. Belle realizes he still suspects her mother. She leans over the railing and the cross falls off. Shawn manages to retrieve it, and tells her not to take it off, ever.

JULIE IS IN THE CHURCH PRAYING, while Celeste, at home, rearranges the crystals, gasping as she sees a dying Doug. Outside, in the cemetery, Bo is giving CPR to Doug, as Hope begs her father to hold on. John uses his flashlight as he searches, and spots a figure that looks like Marlena. He follows the figure, getting closer, when a cat runs out, distracting him. Marlena uses the opportunity and is gone. John continues to search.
Hope is sobbing as she begs Doug to hang on, telling him all the things he promised her and Zack, and he has never gone back on his word. He opens his eyes, calling Hope his little girl. Bo asks for one word…..who did this. We hear sirens & Hope tells her daddy the ambulance will be there in a few seconds. Doug tells Hope he loves her, then gasps, and dies. Hope is sobbing as the paramedics arrive, and Bo tells them it is too late, he is gone. Bo comforts a distraught Hope.

In the church, Julie is ending the Lord’s Prayer (Our Father…..) when the lit candle goes out. She turns, seeing a white light behind her. From it, Doug emerges, looking ever so handsome as usual. She walks to him and they embrace. Julie pleads with Doug, that it is not his time, but he says, yes it is. She asks him who his killer is, but he tells her he cannot tell her that. She again pleads with him not to leave her, they have so many years ahead of them, and things to see and do. They hug, and he begins to hum “The Most Beautiful Girl In The World (it is “their” song) and then sings a few bars of it. (heartbreaking scene to me, I have tears as I type this). They kiss, & Doug says goodbye, my darling Julie. I will always love you. Julie, crying, says I love you, Doug….always. Doug dissolves into the white light, which disappears, and Hope is standing there. The two women cry in each other’s arms.

John has followed Marlena to an old crypt. He remembers there are supposed to be catacombs under some old crypts, calls Tek for the cemetery plans, which Tek happens to have in his trusty PD. PULEEZE! John tells Tek he is at the Buckley crypt, gets the info from Tek, who also tells him Doug did not make it, and goes inside. Marlena is lurking, realizing there is something there that is perfect. John talks to the killer, telling her to come out, saying it is gonna end right here and right now. As he flashes his light around….zoom, a trap door opens and down he goes. He sees he is in a pit of some kind (boy, this show sure does love pits, open graves, etc.) Marlena is telling herself how these old crypts have traps for grave robbers.

Meanwhile, Celeste sees the candle angel go out…..& vows this is the last one. She has to do something, get inside the killer’s mind and perhaps she can learn the identity. She unlocks an old chest, takes out a huge book and opens it, saying how this could be very dangerous. She begins to chant in some strange language. In the crypt, Marlena gasps, holding her head, saying someone is trying to get into my head. (how does SHE know?) Celeste continues chanting, and suddenly realizes she is inside the killer’s head. Marlena says you are not going to win, I am stronger, I will make my mind a blank. She succeeds in forcing Celeste out of her mind. Over in her apt. the angel candle bursts into huge flames, Celeste gasps and falls unconscious to the floor.

John cannot seem to scale the walls of the pit to get out. Marlena pulls a lever, and the walls begin to close in on John. He grabs something (it may be a bone??) to hold the walls apart (Sheesh! Wouldn’t it be rather brittle by now?) as he hears Tek calling his name. Tek bursts in, (Marlena was behind the door, and slips out), helps pull John out, says it was a close call and asks how he managed. John says he boned up on it. LOL. They realize the killer got away, but Tek notices she left something behind……a footprint.

Back in the cemetery, Julie is cradling Doug, with Hope and Bo there. John and Tek arrive, and tell what happened to John, and that they lifted the footprint and sent it for analysis. They comment the killer could still have the mud on her shoes. Bo questions John as to whether he recognized anything about the woman, and John denies seeing anything, saying it was dark. Marlena arrives home, looks at the bloody weapon in her hands and says….O, my gosh, what have I done? The camera freezes on her face, with flames burning behind her. And the previews show

Hope telling Bo she needs to work, or go insane. Bo replies, then let’s get to work.

Shawn saying….we gotta tell them. This could be the break we are looking for. We see Julie’s surprised look.

Belle to Marlena (who is holding her weapon of choice behind her back again).you’re gonna kill me. Cue Marlena’s quizzical look.

Celeste to Ghost Doug….Do you believe she will kill again, to which Doug replies….I am certain of it. And her next victim will be the most beloved person in all of Salem.

Episode # 9766
Tape date – 2/20/04
Director – Phil Sogard

Summary: The longest night in Salem history continues…with part of the action at the church and cemetery…the rest of the show takes place with Belle and Marlena at the penthouse. Thumbs up performance from Deidre Hall!

At St. Lukes’s…Lexie and Celeste arrive at the church (Lexie is there to personally examine Doug…since she IS the only doctor in Salem) but Celeste wants to go in the church to pray. She goes to the confessional and pulls back the curtain. It is Doug on the other side. She apologizes to him and feels guilty that she let him down and wants a chance to atone for doing nothing to help him. He explains why he was at the cemetery (to visit Addy’s grave) and ran into the killer there and confronted her. He explains that she denied it at first then confessed to him and she killed him. She asks if he believes the killer will strike again and he tells her that yes, and next time it will be one of the most beloved citizens of Salem (Alice???…who else could that be?). Celeste asks him WHO, but he can’t tell her. He tells her that this death will devastate one of Salem’s families. Neither can he reveal the killer to her. She begs him to tell her…for Julie and Hope’s sake. He wants to and begins to do so, but the confessional begins to light up and rock and shake. He says it is a warning for him not to say.

In the Graveyard…Bo is upset with John as everyone is demanding details of what he witnessed. He remembers seeing the killer and thinking of “Doc”. Shawn arrives as Hope comforts him. As he watches, John says “Oh my God Doc…could you have done this?” Bo asks him what he said and presses him for information, but John says he has nothing. But Bo is very suspicious of him. Lexie is there now and talks with Julie as they comfort each other. Shawn vows to Doug to find who did this to him as Julie, Lexie and Hope comfort each other. Julie thanks Lexie for coming down personally to do this. Hope asks Bo what they need to do now, but he wants her to go home but she refuses. John says he is going home to check on Marlena which causes Bo to question him. He wants to tell her about Doug himself, since they were close, but Bo convinces him to stay and help out. John just prays that she is at home asleep. As Lexie and Tek examine the body, she notes that the would was jagged and not made with a knife and feels that the killer improvised and is getting sloppy. Julie and Shawn talk about why Doug was there…and she tells him that Doug had figured out who the killer was. They tell Bo that he figured it out and THAT is why he was killed. Lexie worries because he had visited with Celeste and that she is alone in the church so she and John rush over there, fearing that she too may be in danger. Julie is by Doug’s side, as Tek examines him for evidence. She talks about Doug and their life as Bo, Hope and Shawn stand nearby. Shawn is worried about Belle and calls her but gets her voice mail.

Lexie and John get to the church as Celeste is begging Doug to tell her who the killer is. Suddenly the shaking stops and Doug is gon. Lexie opens the confessional door, startling Celeste. She tells them that the killer is going to strike again. They try to calm her down as she says that no one will believe her and she has been right all along. She finally tells them that Doug spoke to her as both John and Lexie are skeptical. But they listen as she tells them that Doug told her about the next victim, which shakes John. Lexie says she needs to get back to the crime scene, hoping they will find something…telling them that the killer is getting sloppy.

Back in the cemetery…Celeste comforts Hope and Julie as they talk about how Doug had talked to each of them but never revealed who he thought the killer was. Celeste blames herself for not doing more to help. Bo and John ask them how the killer could have know that Doug was on to him and want to know who each of them talked to. Celeste says she talked with no one, but Julie says she did talk to Alice. But they are sure she said nothing. Then she remembers she did talk to someone else…Marlena.

At the Penthouse…Marlena is in the bathroom washing the letter opener as Belle lets herself in downstairs. She sees the mud on the carpet and rushes upstairs. Upstairs, Marlena stares at herself in the mirror acting really weird. Belle finds her mom in the bathroom and tells her that she is going to kill her (Belle..thinks that SHE tracked the mud in herself). Marlena is a bit irked that Belle got in unannounced by the doorman. She asks her about Shawn and they talk about her fight with him. Marlena suggests they go and watch a movie and as they leave, Belle notices blood in the sink. Marlena says she cut herself, but won’t let Belle see the wound (she is hiding the letter opener behind her back). As they leave, she slips it in her robe pocket. Downstairs, Marlena makes Belle some hot cocoa. Belle talks a lot about Grandma Evans and then talks about Shawn’s grandma, Caroline. Marlena says that Caroline was just like family and talks about how much she loved her. Belle says that Shawn was crazy to suspect Marlena. Marlena tells Belle to stop worrying about her. They talk about Shawn’s suspicions and Belle apologizes for him. They also talk about Victor’s death as Marlena tries to throw suspicion towards Nicole. Belle is now flipping through a photo album and hands it to Marlena. A picture of Marlena and Doug falls out and as Marlena looks at it, Doug comes to life, asking her WHY she did this. He says she will be stopped and that she will lose her life in the process. Marlena freaks out and puts the album away. Belle talks about the killer’s profile and asks what kind of monster could do these things. Marlena says “you are looking right at her.” She explains to Belle that the profile could fit her, being that female serial killers are rare. She takes out the letter opener and lays it on the table, explaining that she had brought mail home and was going through it. She goes on to say that the killer is probably educated, intelligent, professional, upper-middle class, white…etc. And that NO ONE would ever suspect this person. Belle can’t believe that the killer could be so normal. Belle asks (hypothetically) if Shawn were right and she WERE the serial killer, what would her motives be? Marlena gets really strange and says it would be for control…to be in charge. She begins to have a long flashback as she sees scenes of killing her victims and newspaper headlines…She says the victims could be anyone…associates (Abe, Jack)…friends (Maggie)…family or former lovers (Caroline, Roman) OR just someone that you HATE (as we see Tony being mauled). Belle asks what does the killer need. Marlena says she needs to be stopped…she doesn’t want to do it as tears roll down her cheeks. Belle looks at her and asks what is happening to her. Marlena trembles as she holds the letter opener and Belle begins to blur in her vision. She backs away from her and kind of collapses on the sofa in a fetal position. She whispers “Oh Belle…I am the killer”…as the preview show…

On the Next DAYS OF OUR LIVES…

Brady (to Nicole): “If we could only find that evidence”…Nicole: You will NEVER find that evidence Brady”…

Bo (to Julie): The killer WILL be caught…I promise you that”…Hope: “Yes, we will bring the killer to justice”…

Belle (to Shawn): “Do you think my mom killed your grandfather?”…

John (to Marlena): “Is there something you want to tell me?” Marlena: “Yes…there is!…”

As the credits roll…

Episode # 9767
Tape date – various
Director – Phil Sogard

Summary: The longest night in Salem history continues as they continue to collect evidence at the graveyard, Belle visits with Marlena, Nicole tries to get the evidence and John confronts Marlena. Some scenes are not recommended for younger or sensitive viewers.

KIRIAKIS MANSION Nicole and Jan (who must have decided it's safer to just stay there for the night and is now in a pair of black silk jammies) chat about destroying the incriminating evidence tucked behind the couch pillow downstairs. Nicole's been waiting for Brady to leave the room and wants Jan to help. We see a flashback of her going through the evidence and having to hide it behind the pillows. She tells Jan she better pray that Brady doesn't find it. Jan obeys and prays for that not to happen as Nicole rolls her eyes. She turns to Nicole, saying they're going to hell, aren't they. Nicole assures her no and stops Jan from another big swig out of the bottomless flask.

Brady (now in shirt and jeans!!) stretches and starts to leave the living room when Shawn calls his cell to see if Brady's seen Belle and tells him about Doug. He tells Brady that John saw the killer running away, but doesn't know who it is. Later we return as Nicole tells Jan upstairs that she'll get Brady out of the living room and when she does, Jan needs to run in and throw the evidence in the fire. Before she gets to Brady, he finishes his call with Shawn who assures him that Salem PD and John have everything under control there. (there were other cops there too, amazing!) Nicole asks Brady to help her build a fire as she's cold. Brady suggests she put another quilt on the bed (gee, if you put on more then a teddy and matching short silk robe you might be warmer too, LOL), but the merry widow wants a fire. He tells her someone else was killed and she asks who SHE killed now. Not appreciating the sarcasm, he tells her Doug Williams. She's sorry to hear it, but wants a fire. Now..here's the funny thing folks. When she walks into the room...note there's a roaring fire in the fireplace behind Brady. When she wants to start a fire, she opens up the same firescreen to a cold fireplace and throws a log into it. Brady tells her she'll need paper to start a fire. He grabs a newspaper and she stops him, noticing the evidence showing behind the pillow. She stops him and takes the newspaper, saying she'll do that part herself. Voila..the fire is going (amazing). He figures it'll be bigger then the Salem U pep fire. She tells him this new murder couldn't have come at a better time. She apologizes for sounding ghoulish, but it clears her from being the SK. He reminds her about Victor's warning to look no further then her for his murder. Brady wishes they can find the evidence as he leans on the cushion hiding it. Nicole tells him he won't find such evidence. He asks why and she tells him there isn't any as his hand rests inches away from it. Jan lurks in the hallway waiting for her cue. Nicole tells him that maybe Victor burned whatever he had (cueing Jan) and tells Brady that Victor just wanted to get her one last time. She pulls him away before he sees the envelope. He tells her he's stupid and the evidence has been in front of him the entire time..he can't believe he didn't see it and turns towards the couch. Nicole panics. He simply figures it's hidden somewhere else in the house and decides to search that room first.

IN THE GRAVEYARD, Bo and Tek try to get Hope and Julie to go to Gran's, but Julie refuses to leave. John remembers Julie's announcement about telling Marlena about Doug's knowing who the killer is as he remembers seeing Marlena fleeing, Celeste realizes he knows who the killer is. John denies knowing who it is. Celeste says her vibes say different (don't mess with Celeste's vibes darlink!) and for him to not go after the killer alone. She's like the black widow spider and won't hesitate to go after the ones she loves. John tells Celeste if he encounters the killer, she'll be the one who dies, not him. He checks in with Tek and finds everything is under control and says he's going to go see Doc and tell her about Doug before she reads it elsewhere. He stops to speak with Julie and all she asks is he find the murdering bitch that killed her darling. He promises to do so, no matter who it is. Bo gives Shawn some money and asks him to go get some coffee for them as it's going to be a long night (ok, they're yanking our chain here, ROFLMAO!! ...it's already been two weeks long!!!) Bo tells Hope the best thing she can do right now is to keep an eye on Julie. Bo tells them the killer is getting sloppy and left a boot print. Lexie knows the instrument that killed Doug was long and had a dull blade. Celeste sends mental vibes for John to be careful.

Bo promises to Julie that they'll get the murderer. Gotta love Julie as she fires back that he's promised to do that since the first murder and still hasn't done so! The SK keeps outsmarting them and how many people are going to have to die before he catches her. Hope backs Bo up saying they will bring the killer to justice. Lexie notes Celeste's distress and learns that there will be more tragedies before this night is over (put more coffee on Salem). Julie apologizes to Bo, but just wants the murderer found. Julie tells Shawn how much his grandfather loved him and was proud of him. Shawn knows Doug will watch over them like Grandpa Tom does. Julie tells Doug, who's just lying there now, that she wished he told someone who the murderer is. We see the note inches away from his body (LOL, CSI would have found that in one minute had they been there...so much for checking the surrounding area for any minute detail!!!)

Later everyone is by the front door of the church and find that's where Doug was attacked (that tule fog is so thick it's amazing they see anything). Julie tells Hope that Doug was a hero protecting those he loved. Bo vows if he catches the killer first, she might not live to make it to trial. Lexie asks Celeste if the killer will be caught soon, but Celeste says yes darling, but unfortunately not soon enough to prevent more death.

Shawn tries to call Belle again and she answers behind him, explaining her phone is on charge. She tells him about John telling her at the penthouse (see below) about Doug as he questions her timing there. She asks if he thinks her mother killed his grandfather. He tells every woman in Salem is a suspect and says she was with her mom for hours and she couldn't be the SK (liar liar). He trusts her and knows she wouldn't lie to him. She's her mother's alibi.

BACK AT THE PENTHOUSE, we see a dizzy Marlena again as she sits on the couch and tells Belle she's the killer. Of course Belle didn't hear her as she got Marlena some aspirin and water. Marlena remembers chasing Doug and stabbing him by the church (flashback time for those that missed it). Belle asks again what's wrong as she said something about the killer when she was getting her water. Marlena plays with the letter opener as Belle tells her “oh my God” (Belle's version of “what da hell” apparently) “I know what's going on with you”. Belle figures Marlena got carried away while profiling the killer and Marlena tries to rationalize how sometimes the killer may feel like she has no choice but to kill. Later, John walks into the penthouse, noticing the muddy footprints at the door. The balcony doors are open and he finds Marlena, alone, hugging herself, deep in thought. He remembers the killer running again, saying it can't be her. He calls out her name and asks what's wrong. Whatever it is, she knows she can tell him. She asks, “Can I? Would you understand?” Belle pops out and tells John that mom's all upset and it's her fault cuz she made her talk about the serial killer. They go inside where it's warmer to talk and Belle asks if John heard about what happened at Shawn's loft earlier. He says he had and Marlena asked if they checked at the hospital to see if anyone with a stab wound came in. He told her yes and no one did. He asks how long Belle's been there (after saying Shawn thought she was home in bed) and Belle says a little while ago. When she got there mom was upstairs still awake, doctoring a little cut she had on her hand. John asks about the mud on the floor and Belle said she was, she saw it on the floor as soon as she walked in. He says the mud had him thinking like a cop and tells them about Doug's murder. He watches their faces as they both silently open their mouths in shock. Belle has to call Shawn and John tells her where he is and doesn't want her going there, it's too dangerous. Marlena says it's okay, the SK won't strike again tonight. John asks how she knows that, watching her carefully, and she explains she did the profile on her and knows. Belle tells him her phone is on charge at the loft, but if he needs her, call Shawn and leaves. Marlena and John are now alone as he asks her if she went out tonight. She tells him she went to Belle's with some cold remedy, then came home. He mentions Julie telling her about Doug knowing who the killer was earlier and she tells him that she saw her in her office. She came home after that. He notes she's pale and she thinks she's coming down with something. He asks her again if there's something she wants to tell him. She turns and says yes, there is. She starts to cry and says she figures he's already guessed it, but she's the serial killer. Cue a shocked look on his face as he backs up. She confirms she did it as he looks at her in shock. She had to do it to protect herself and their family. He tells her she needs help and she agrees. She wants him to help her get it. She jumps in his arms and tells him she loves him and doesn't know what else to do. She promises to get the help she needs but he can't tell anyone. John's in tears and tells her to her face he can't do that. He holds the side of his head and misery as she grabs the letter open and says she's sorry he feels that way and staps him in the stomach. He collapses to the floor, holding his stomach as she drives the letter opener into him a couple more times while crying his name. (not for younger viewers to see folks) We return to her continuing to stab John as his eyes are open, but not for long...when Marlena snaps out of her daydream (or is that night dream?) She tells him she's just tired. He tells her he loves her and she's the greatest person in the whole world, but he knows Belle wasn't with him when Doug was murdered. She turns, crying, saying no..nothing. She fingers the letter opener, getting hold of it as John stares down at her. Holding it behind her, he stares her into the eyes ....

ON THE NEXT DOOL.... Hope asks Bo” if he meant was he said. If he finds the serial killer, will he take the law into his own hands???

Shawn to Belle: “you are being straight with me, right?”

Marlena asks John if he thinks she's the killer...

Brady holds the incriminating folder under his face, saying he found all the proof he needs....

as the credits roll...

Episode #9768
Tape date – various
Director – Roger Inman

The longest Valentine’s Day that ever was seemingly will never end, as Brady continues his search for Victor’s will, John & Marlena play cat & mouse, and Days gives it’s long suffering viewers a gift, as Doug is bid goodbye by Julie & Hope.

PHILIP IS NURSING A BEERat the Cheatin’ Heart, orders another to learn a gal has bought it for him. He nods a thank you, she comes over, chats him up, telling him she recognizes him from the Love Is Blind show. He insists he wants to be by himself, doesn’t mention his dad was murdered earlier this evening. She won’t take no for an answer, pesters him & they dance. She flirts a lot, somehow gets hold of his wallet, finds Belle’s picture, teases him about it, knows he still has a thing for the gal, and tells him to go for it. (These scenes seem to be just filler pap……but who knows?)

BRADY IS SEARCHING the room for the will, while nervous Nik keeps glancing at Jan, who is hiding in the hall. Attorney Briscoe calls (egads, these people just never sleep, do they?) & Nicole rushes out to bolster up the chicken Jan, promising to get Brady out of the room. Brady ends his call, & says he found all the proof he needs…..some paper work dealing with a trust fund for Philip, which is contingent upon the will.(Yeah, like only one copy of something so important. Eyes are rolling in every law office in the country. LOL) Nicole gets Brady to go upstairs to search Victor’s room, leaving the room wide open for Jan. She grabs the stuff from behind the pillow, hears a noise, drops a file, hides. Upstairs, Brady has decided to search Nicole’s bedroom, since nothing was found in Victor’s. She spots some small, white, rectangular object on the floor, her eyes widen, and she turns to distract Brady by coming on to him. They kiss…..but he stops her from undressing him. Downstairs, Henderson comes in, spots something by the sofa, picks it up…..piece of kindling (GMAB), throws it into the fire, and leaves, not even noticing the big blue file on the floor. LOL. Jan picks it up……and scrams with all the evidence in her hot little hands. (By the way….she doesn’t even seem to have one iota of pain from those stab wounds and sewing job of a couple hours ago)

IN THE FOGGY GRAVEYARD Bo, Hope & Julie talk of catching the murderer, as Belle lies to Shawn about being with her mom for “hours”. She lies again & again, but thinks to herself if Shawn finds out he will never trust her again, but she has to do so, as no way could her mom be guilty. Shawn talks alone with Bo, but doesn’t tell his theory, since Belle has given her mom an alibi. Tek tells them the coroner is done (coroner? Then why was Lexie called there……and BTW, she is gone now). Tek says they found evidence of dirt and sod under Doug’s nails, but they all conclude it came from the gravesite where he fell in, and when he climbed out. Ghost Doug tries to tell them all of his clue which is under their noses. Julie “feels” Doug’s presence, and says he is there with them, trying to tell them something. Shawn tells Tek his theory about Marlena, but knows Belle would lie to him. Ghost Doug again tries to tell Bo & Shawn about his clue, but they walk away, and laments “Good Lord, what do I have to do to get noticed around here”. LOL, that was funny scene.

Julie cries over Doug’s body on the gurney, as does Hope, while Ghost Doug looks on. (Now….make sure you have a tissue handy for this next part) THEN he begins to sing “ALWAYS”, as first a picture of the very young, dark haired and oh so handsome, Doug Williams fills the screen. As he sings the lyrics, scenes of the youthful Doug & Julie come on, even showing both of them sitting at the bedside of the sleeping child, Hope. In one scene they are dancing. As the song is ending, we are back to the present day Julie & Hope standing by Doug’s body. Julie tells her darling she loves him and kisses him. Hope tells her daddy good-bye and how she will miss him, kisses his cheek. Ghost Doug tells his “princess” he’ll miss her, too, then turns to Julie, saying……and you, too, fair lady….the love of my life. He promises to look after his two girls…..ALWAYS! (I wish the show ended right there, it would have been perfect, but it doesn’t. I loved these scenes, & even need a tissue as I type this)

MARLENA IS HIDING THE LETTER OPENER behind her back once again (wouldn’t you wonder why someone always has their hand behind their back? Lol) as John asks her if anyone can vouch for where she was an hour and a half ago. Cue Marlena to flashback to sticking that letter opener into Doug’s neck, but she plays the innocent, wondering if he’s accusing her of something. John asks a few more questions, then when Marlena goes to make a pot of tea, looks in the hall closet. Marlena catches him, but he says he was wondering if he left an old jacket here. She doesn’t believe him, tells him to search the whole place, there is nothing belonging to the killer here. She then flashes back to throwing all the clothes she wore earlier down the incinerator (Guess she learned a lesson from the button that tore off the blue suit) She rants at him, as he tells her how he saw the killer tonite, and for a split second, thought it was her. Marlena throws a guilt trip on him, accusing him of not loving her any more. They argue, and John protests, saying only for that split second………and suddenly, he says Oh, my, gosh! I just remembered! Now I know why I thought it was you. and the previews show

Julie to Hope – I only told two people, Gramma and Marlena. Hope murmurs…”Marlena?”

Sami to Marlena – Only way to make sure John doesn’t kill you is to kill him lst. Use this…as she picks up the letter opener.

Shawn to Belle – I know your mother is innocent because I know you’d never lie to me (must be the 10th time he says that line, lol)

Brady to Nicole – How does it feel to get away with murder?

Episode #9769
Tape date – 2/24/04
Director – Phil Sogard

Summary: The long night drags on…as friends and family begin to gather at Alice’s house…Brady continues to search for evidence against Nicole…Victor pays her a visit…Lucas shows his feelings for Sami…who in turn encourages her mother to kill John.

Mimi and Rex…are in bed as he asks her about her family emergency. She calls her mom a flake and fears that there will be trouble between them now that Patrick is back in town. Mimi wishes her mother could know what love is and talks about all she ever does is focus on trying to snag a rick man. She says her schemes always blow up in her face. She just hopes that Patrick won’t fall for her schemes, like trying to reel in Jennifer. Rex asks her if she is hinting around about getting married which she denies. She prattles on and on denying it, but he wants to talk about the future. He wants to ask her something, but now is not the right time and invites her to dinner tomorrow night (that is IF tomorrow ever comes!) and she accepts. As they hug, she excitedly eyes her ring finger.

Shawn and Belle…are still at the cemetery as he talks about Doug. Belle tries to comfort him as he apologizes for accusing her mom. He says that if Belle says that she was with her mom, he believes her and that she would never lie to him. They talk about the killings as Belle apologizes for freaking out when he accused her mom and they talk about her not being the killer.

Lucas… is at Sami’s doing half-naked pushups (yes he is shirtless). He imagines that Sami is beneath him and says that he can’t get her off his mind, saying he needs a cold shower. LOL. She walks in, asking why he is there. He wants the truth from her (putting his hand on her heart…more like her breast to me) asking if she has feelings for him. He notes that her heart is beating fast and she tells him to go home and next time wear some clothes. He reminds her about what happened at the cave (in Days time, wasn’t earlier that same evening?) and tries to get her to admit that she loves him but she won’t. She reminds him that Kate is trying to get her out of the picture, that is why she offered her the job in London. She tells him that it would never work out between them…they are NOT Trista and Ryan (for fans of the Bachelor/Bachelorette). There would be no “happily ever after” for them and that Will would be the one to get hurt in the end. Kate calls Lucas and gives him the news about Doug being murdered. An upset Sami worries about her mom. She is freaking out because of Celeste’s predictions coming true. She wants to warn her mom to stay away from John.

At the Kiriakis Mansion…more of the same…with Brady searching for the evidence and the will…Nicole trying to cover and Jan lurking around with evidence in hand. Brady accuses Nicole of hiding the evidence but she swears there is none. To divert his attention away from the fire, she offers him a drink and comes on to him (is that getting old or what?). She wants to celebrate, calling herself a wealthy woman…Victor is gone and has no will and it looks Victor has left her filthy rich. Brady asks how it feels to get away with murder. She gets angry and they argue as Jan is listening from the hallway. WHY is she still there? Jan has a flashback of ALMOST burning the stuff in the fire but didn’t. She wonders what to do with it now. Brady leaves to go and call Chloe s Nicole does a happy dance and plays in the ashes. But she isn’t so sure now that it was really burned, since there is no trace of it there. She turns around to see Victor standing there and he says “God was all out of lucky stars they day you were born”. Then he proceeds to do his own little happy dance (LOL). We next see Jan on the streets (by a barrel with a fire in it) alongside a homeless man. She is ready to burn the evidence, but he tells her she is making a big mistake and it looks like she has a gold mine there (and how would HE know?). She decides to keep the evidence as an insurance policy…that Nicole won’t kill her. Victor tells Nicole that the evidence is still out there and her own stupid mistakes will defeat her…not him. She rushes out of the den, only to have Brady grab her by the arm, telling her that she cannot run from her guilty conscience.

At Alice’s House…Julie and Hope are dreading telling her the bad news, as Julie is an emotional wreck, wishing she could have done something to save Doug. She keeps going over the fact that she only told 2 people, Alice and Marlena. She asks Hope if she suspects Marlena, which she doesn’t but suggests that maybe someone at the hospital overheard their conversation. Julie is sure that no one was around. The next scene Alice is with them, in her chair as they are comforting her. She talks about when Tom died and she went on and how he lives through her. Julie wishes she could be strong like her. Belle and Shawn come by with hugs all around. Julie cries as she hugs Shawn and tells him how much his grandfather loved him. Julie talks about all the ones lost and how Marlena was so close to most of them. (Cue suspicious look from Shawn and a worried look from Belle). Julie asks Hope if there is someway this is just a dream and that she will wake up to find Doug next to her in bed (strange how many people have referred to all this as a “dream” or a “nightmare”…does that mean something?) Bo calls and Hope asks if there is a break in the case, but there is not…only the one boot print at the scene. Lucas shows up with a basket of flowers (from the all-night florist?) and offers his condolences. He informs them that he called is dad and gave him the news as well. Julie talks about what a rascal Doug was when he first came to Salem but the Hortons straightened him out. Lucas notes that maybe that means there is hope for him. Julie says all he needs is the love of the right woman. They talk about the killer and Julie asks Hope what if she is so good that she will never get caught. Hope says no one is that smart…she will slip up.

John and Marlena…are still at the penthouse as John tries to explain why he thought he saw Marlena earlier. It was nothing she did or said, but the seed was planted by Shawn earlier. John even admits that he gave it thought. He asks her to forgive him, which she does. He wants to move back in with her so he can protect her, but she wants none of that (as she is thinking that he only wants to keep an eye on her). She tells him that he is not the man she fell in love with. She says THAT John Black had faith in her and stood by her as she turns on the dramatics, trying to make him feel guilty. She says that she is afraid of him because of Caroline’s warning that he would kill her. Sami comes in about this time and hears this. She says the only way that she can save herself is to kill John first. She picks up the letter opener and urges her mother to slit John’s throat. She says she can tell everyone it was in self-defense and she will testify to that. Sami begs her to kill John but Marlena takes the letter opener and lays it down, telling Sami to calm down. John picks it up as Sami tries to convince Marlena that John is trying to kill her. Marlena takes the opener and puts it away and tells “Samantha Gene” to go outside with her and they go to the terrace. While they are gone, John is struggling with himself for ever suspecting Marlena, telling himself there is no way she could be the killer. But after all that has happened and all that Salem has been through, they would string her up. On the terrace, Marlena rails at Sami over her theatrics. Sami says “it is kill or be killed…and if she wants to survive, she must kill John Black!”. Freeze frame on Marlena’s face as the previews roll…

On the next DAYS OF OUR LIVES…

Nicole (to Jan): Give me the evidence…or I will kill you…

Patrick (to Bonnie): My God Mom…you stole my money didn’t you?…

Bo (to Brady): Lives are on the line here…people we love and care about will die…

Celeste gasps “Another Horton is going to die!”…

As the credits roll…

Episode #9770
Tape date – 2/25/04
Director – Herb Stein

It's a NEW DAY in Salem...hallelujah!!! Bo stops by to taunt Nicole, Julie visits Jennifer and meets Patrick and also some bad news from Uncle Mickey, while Celeste and Alice are both beckoned to Tom's grave.

BO stops by to see Nicole at the mansion. They do a verbal sword dance about her going to prison and him not having any evidence against her. Gene Brisco, Victor's lawyer, advised Bo that Victor died without a will. All previous wils had been destroyed and his latest one never found. Therefore, Brisco will testify in probate court that Victor had intended to divorce his wife and didn't want anything going to her. When Brady asks Bo if he found any evidence proving Nicole's guilt, Bo reminds Brady that he was sleeping down the hall and handcuffed to Victor's naked wife when Victor died. (no sleep for a month, er, a night, makes one cranky..or is that jet lag?) Whatever it is, Bo got custody of the Salem brain today as he's figured out that Nicole had an accomplice and she helped whomever it was get into the mansion last night while she was handcuffed to Brady for an alibi. Nicole wonders what Jan did with the proof. We see Jan putting the evidence in an envelope for safe keeping in the event she might need it.

Bo continues on telling Nicole that the rest of the 7 suspects are either dead or have been cleared, leaving only her. Saying she doesn't have police training, but does have a brain, it's obvious it's time to move on then and look at someone else as she also had an alibi for the last two murders. Bo recalls how rotten her father was and what he did to Shawn and Jan and she tosses some digs in on her own about the apple not falling far from the tree in respect to Shawn. She tries to throw Bo out saying it's her house until the probate judge says otherwise. Being it's a crime scene, he says he has a right to be there and searches her purse, finding nothing. She exercises her freedom to leave (hey, have they been reading our WARNING on the Early Edition website?) and does so.

Brady chides Bo on how his treatment of Victor. Bo apologizes for it. Bo warns Brady about Nicole, saying she's got the eyes of a killer. He knows as he's seen it, and leaves.

NICOLE VISITS JAN at the Salem Inn, just as Jan was getting ready to leave. She grabs Jan's sore arm repeatedly that Marlena had stabbed the night before while trying to find out where the evidence is. Jan tells Nicole to ask for it nicely and Nicole responds, nicely threatening to kill her if she doesn't tell her where it is.

AT JENNIFER'S, Patrick opens the door to Julie and Mickey. (Yes, at least he has a shirt on, LOL!)Not knowing either of them, he explains the death in the family the night before and says Jennifer was still upstairs. Mickey mentions the death was this woman's husband and introductions are made. When Julie hears his name is Lockhart, we see Bonnie steamrolling in to hug her baby boy. Jennifer comes downstairs and she and Julie go to the couch and discuss Jen's writing Doug's obituary and showing Julie the handouts for Jack and Maggie's for reference for Doug's. Bonnie realizes what's going on and pours on the tears in grief, hugging Mickey for support (oh, paleez) as Patrick watches. She moans about how much more of this can they take. Patrick diplomatically tries to curtail her act, but she goes over to Julie and Jennifer and extends her sympathy, knowing how they feel. Well, not exactly but after her husband left her the last time, she was a wreck..even though she lost two dress sizes from the weight loss, but still. Julie mutters she can't take this and Patrick swiftly moves in and asks Bonnie to see her outside. Mickey watches silently as Julie learns from Jennifer what Patrick's doing there. Julie tells Jennifer there are people killing their family in Salem and call her paranoid, but they have to be cautious and not allow strangers to stay in their homes to start. Julie wonders why Patrick didn't go to his mothers and Jen explains they had differences. Mickey mentions just because Julie hasn't warmed up to Bonnie (yeah, right), but goes on if Doug had listened to her and gone straight to the police rather then worry about the woman's reputation, he'd be alive. (wait til she finds out SHE told the killer that he was onto her..what will it do to Julie then?)

We return to Alice now there as well as she, Julie and Jennifer look at Jennifer's photo album. Jennifer feels the baby kick and they all are anxious to feel it's movement. Alice tells Jennifer Rose that God brings promise of a new life and everything we have is a gift. Faith is the only thing that will help her through this. Julie looks like she's going to cry and steps out of the room, joined by Jennifer. She tells Jennifer it wasn't fair for God to take Doug and wonders why he's not helping them to stop it. Mickey stepped out of the room and Alice looks down at the large picture of her and Tom, asking for his help in stopping this. Touching Tom's picture, she senses his telling her to come see him, now. Alice must have left, as we find Jennifer with Julie and Mickey now. Julie tells them she and Doug were scheduled to cruise to Europe next week and wonders why they returned to Salem (obviously because they needed another victim for their list). Mickey and Jennifer mention that's where their family is, but Julie says they're buried here and it's too soon for their own time to come. Another Horton won't die for a long time. (uh oh, that's a sure sign one will...)

Julie wonders what she'll do next as she needs something to occupy her time or she'll go crazy. Jennifer mentions Tuscany and Mickey flinches. Julie loves the idea and tells Mickey she'll honor Maggie's memory and running Tuscany is the best thing for her right now. Mickey tells her the timing is bad as he knew about her and Doug's trip and she's got lots of money to live on. He has already done the paperwork on turning over the the running of Tuscany to Bonnie (oh brother) being she needs the income and the paperwork is in the mail. It's a surprise though and Bonnie doesn't know it yet.

Outside Bonnie rails into Patrick about not telling her he was coming home. He tells her about Jennifer backing into him and she's thrilled with his luck. She tells him Jennifer's from one of the richest families in Salem. He assures her he's not doing an insurance scam and not after Jennifer. Jennifer's opened up to her home to him and been really nice. Reminding his mother he's got money of his own, he notifies her that he'll be by later today to get his money. He doesn't want to sponge off Jennifer any more and she's got enough problems. Bonnie mentions Max and he tells her he has a present for him in his suitcase (awww). She tells him Max doesn't deserve it after not protecting her and Meem's when they were almost attacked at the tree lot and he asks how bad it was. She almost says it was no big deal, but changes strategy saying they didn't tell him as they knew he'd come home to protect them and he should just leave town now. She dashes back into the house to be met with a glare from Julie. Patrick joins them, thanking Jennifer for her hospitality and will grab his things as he winces a bit in pain. Bonnie takes over saying how he is still hurting and as much as she and (the invisible) Connor would love to have him home, they're redoing his room right now and he'd have to sleep on the couch with his bad back (let him sleep in Connor's room then). Jennifer assures them it's no problem for him to stay there as Julie and Mickey pull Jennifer aside for a conference. Patrick asks his mother about his money and figures she spent it. He's furious with her and leaves the room. Outside Julie reminds Jennifer about another time she let a confidence man in her house..asking if the name Hawk Hawkins rings any bells. Jennifer says this is different as Patrick new and liked Jack.

CELESTE is back in her suite at the Inn, wondering if she's the only one who can save the ones she loves, but wonders if it will cost her her own life. One of the crystals on the table starts bleeding as she gasps. She asks who the killer is as it starts printing out H then an O (she comments they know the killer is a woman and not a very nice one...LOL)..but it quickly continues printing out HORTON (hey, maybe it means the tiger??). We return and Celeste also wonders if it's referring to the tiger, but it finishes up with an “S”, so she realizes another Horton is going to die. Closing her eyes, she asks for help and hears a man say her name. She opens her eyes and sees Tom Horton's gravestone in the crystal. She realizes someone else is in mortal danger.

ALICE visits Tom's grave with a some flowers she must have cut from Jen's garden (wasn't there snow on the ground when this night started?). She drops a flower behind Tom's headstone and bends down to get it when a black gloved hand touches her shoulder. She gasps. It's Celeste, apologizing for startling Alice, but has a disturbing message to give her. She tells Alice that Tom beckoned her there as well and someone near and dear to everyone in the Horton family is in danger....

as the previews for the next Days of Our Lives roll...

Hope tells John he does remember something else, doesn't he...

Marlena's in the confessional and with a cloth over her mouth, tells Father Jansen to keep his mouth shut and listen to her....

Jan tells Nicole she set her up and calls her a bitch, slapping her across the face...

Shawn tells Belle that all this talk about love and romance makes him think they're missing out on something. (two of his 3 grandfathers were murdered the night before, and he's been talking love and romance?) She asks if he's saying what she thinks he's saying...

WEEK OF MONDAY, MARCH 15, 2004<P> DOOL WEEK OF 3/15/04 MONDAY, MARCH 15TH, 2004

Episode #9771
Tape date – 3/1/04
Director – Roy B. Steinberg

Summary: Mimi and Belle spend a day at the spa…Shawn and Rex seek advice from Grandpa Shawn…Alice and Celeste are both drawn to Tom’s grave…Nicole and Jan threaten each other…Bonnie feels she hit the jackpot.

At the Brady Pub…Bonnie comes in on the phone with Conner and throws her mail down on a table. She chuckles at the newspaper headline, saying she should send it in to Jay Leno. We see it says “Doug Williams Found Dead in Cemetery”. When she walks off, Julie comes by and sees the mail. She picks it up and sees a letter addressed to Bonnie from Mickey. Bonnie comes back and they get into it, with Bonnie accusing her of going through her mail. Julie is holding on to the letter but Bonnie snatches it from her hand and rips it open and is thrilled to death. She tells Julie she is sorry about Doug’s death, but she can just eat it, cause Tuscany is hers and she has won this round. Julie storms off as Bonnie breaks into song.

Later in the show, Julie is in the park and can’t figure out how Mickey could give Tuscany to that two-bit trollop, when she is right there…capable of doing the job, and now that she has endless empty days to fill without Doug. She says she knows Doug wouldn’t approve, but what if…Bonnie were forced out of business before she could even open (and gets a wicked smile on her face).

At another table in the pub, Philip joins Brady, telling that they have a problem that they need to discuss…Nicole. Philip is sure that she is responsible for Victor’s death but Brady thinks it is impossible. Philip has control of the brain today as he said she must have had an accomplice. Brady says he has already heard that theory, but there is no evidence of that. Brady says that their family owes Nicole an apology but Philip says there is now what that is going to happen.

Meanwhile…Nicole is with Jan, threatening to kill her if she doesn’t hand over the evidence. They argue back and forth with Nicole telling her that she will NEVER get Shawn Brady and taunts her about going to prison all alone. Nicole tells her if she turns over the evidence that she killed Colin Murphy, she will be going down as well for offing “Grandpa Munster”. Jan is furious at Nicole for setting her up and slaps her across the face. Nicole plays her trump card and says she is going to the police to confess right now and turn Jan in as well. Jan has a fantasy of being put to death. They pull back the curtain to reveal most of Salem (John, Marlena, Bonnie, Mimi, Belle, Philip, Brady and Nicole) all laughing at her. Shawn rushes in just about as she is being put to death, saying they were meant to be together. Jan stops Nicole from leaving and wants to make a deal. She warns Nicole that if anything happens to her, there are instructions for the evidence to go to Bo and Hope Brady. Nicole counters and says that if anything happens to HER, evidence of Jan killing Victor will go to Bo as well. They shake on it and Nicole tells her to follow her, she has a plan and they leave

Later…Philip and Brady are in the park, still discussing Nicole. Philip sees Shawn and Belle and just stares at Belle. Nicole and Jan are in the bushes and Nicole picks up on the way Philip is staring at Belle. She tells Jan that Philip is going to help her get Shawn.

Mimi and Belle…meet up at the park, with Belle having a surprise for her. She has planned a day at the spa for them. They rush off excitedly. Later we see them at the spa relaxing with cucumber slices on their eyes as Glorianne (the owner) comes in and they tell her the news that Mimi is going to be proposed to. They talk about Rex proposing and then Belle has a fantasy of what it would be like when Shawn proposes. Possibly one of the silliest things I have ever seen since ‘Love is Blind’ as tiny Mimi & Belle keep popping up on the screen (as reporters) commentating on the action of the fantasy. Finally Mimi fast-forwards (tempted myself) through this LONG fantasy, to the part where Shawn proposes and tiny-Mimi pauses it. Back to reality, Mimi says she can’t wait to say yes to Rex. Later, Mimi and Belle walk through the park and run into Shawn, who already knows about Rex’s intentions. See below. Mimi rushes off to the Brady Pub to pick up her check as Shawn tells Belle that all this talk about love and marriage makes him think that maybe they are missing out on something. She asks him if he is saying what she thinks he is saying and he smiles at her.

Earlier, Rex was in the park...looking at an ad for a jewelry store when Shawn comes by. Rex tells him about wanting to propose to Mimi but he is broke and can’t afford a ring. Shawn has an idea and takes him to the pub where they are greeted by Grandpa Shawn (who is thrilled that his two grandsons are getting along). Shawn fills him in as to what is going on and asks Grandpa to tell Rex the story of how he proposed to Caroline. Shawn tells about how he was broke and couldn’t afford a ring, so he called his mother in Ireland and asked her to knit 2 rings out of wool and she did. He wants Rex to have the rings and gives them to him. After Shawn leaves, Rex spots Bonnie and goes to sit with her, telling her he has something to ask her. He asks for Mimi’s hand in marriage. From outside, Mimi sees them and is troubled. She turns, excited to see someone (Must be Patrick). Bonnie laughs at Rex, saying there is absolutely NO WAY he is going to marry her daughter.

At the Cop Shop…Hope is alone staring at her father’s picture when John arrives. She asks him if he remembers anything that could help, but he says no (even though he has flashbacks of seeing Marlena flee the scene). Hope presses him as he has flashbacks of his talk with Marlena. He tells her that there was something familiar about the way the killer moved, but it could not be who he thought it was. She feels that he is repressing memories and saw more than he is saying. She thinks he knows who the killer is but perhaps blocking it out. She says they need help and goes to call Marlena, but he stops her. He says that he doesn’t want to put Doc in jeopardy, but Hope thinks there is someone else who can help them. Later, Tek is with them and I think John is under hypnosis. They begin to question John and they tell him to tell them what he sees. Hope asks him if he sees a face.

At St. Luke’s…Marlena is in the confessional with Father Jansen, telling him that she has done terrible things and fears that she may do worse. He asks her about it and she says she has done dark, evil things even though she tried to stop. He wants to get help for her, but his door is jammed. She tells him to shut up and listen to her. He asks her name, but she won’t tell. She tells him that she needs to repent for her sins. She fears for her daughter’s safety and tells him how “eliminating” her has crossed her mind, but she is safe for now. She says that her husband is the one who had better watch out. She slips out of the confessional booth, muttering…”especially if he tells Hope Brady!”

In the Cemetery…Celeste apologizes for startling Alice and warns her that another member of her family is in danger. Alice asks if there is a way to stop it as Celeste says to pray. They recite the Lord’s Prayer together as Celeste feels that Hope may be the one in danger. Alice tells her that if another Horton is to die, then she wants to appeal to the killer herself. Celeste gasps and says that she feels that the killer just heard her words. They turn to find Marlena standing there. They ask why she is there and she wipes the tears away saying she was in the church lighting a candle for Doug and was overcome with grief. Celeste asks if she is upset because she knows who the killer will strike next. Father Jansen rushes up asking them if they saw a woman leaving the church. He says that he wants to talk to Marlena because of the troubled woman who was there and asks if he finds her could she come to her for help. Of course, Marlena agrees. After he leaves, Marlena asks them why do they think SHE would know the identity of the killer. Alice tells her that Celeste feels that another Horton is about to die (as Marlena thinks oh no, I am going to kill again). Celeste gasps and tells them that she feels that the killer’s identity is being revealed right now as they speak. Cut to John with Hope and Tek. He is having his flashbacks as Tek asks him what he sees. He yells at the killer to stop and she turns and he sees Marlena’s face and yells “NOOOOOO!”…as the previews show…

On the Next DAYS OF OUR LIVES…

Shawn (to Belle): You were going to tell me something. Belle says “It can wait”…

Rex (to Mimi): Now, I need to ask you something really important…

Patrick asks Bonnie “What’s that?” She waves the contract in his face and says “It is a blank check to the fame and fortune that the Lockharts so richly deserve”…

Tek asks John “What do you see?” as John’s eyes roll back and he passes out…

And the credits roll…

Episode #9772
Tape date – 3/2/04
Director – Alan Alarr

Summary: The younger set spends much of the day in the park, John fights within himself as to whether or not reveal Marlena's possibly being the serial killer, Rex and Mimi's dinner doesn't got as hoped and Bonnie tells Patrick about her plans for Tuscany.

AT THE BRADY PUB...Mimi finally sees Patrick outside and the two sibs hug. He can't believe how foxy she is now and she tells him about Rex. She sees Rex inside talking to Bonnie and admits being nervous about that. She leaves to finish preparing for the night as Belle's loaning her a dress to wear.

Inside the pub we hear Bonnie telling Rex NO to his request to marry Mimi. She tells him it's not because he's poor or not a Dimera anymore, but that Mimi's too young and she wants her to graduate from college first. Totally believable..until she goes on about wanting to have been a brain surgeon herself, but got married and had kids too young and never accomplished her dream. She excuses herself to look at the document Mickey sent her for managing Tuscany. Patrick joins her and she tries to avoid him, but he insists on all his money now. He finds some boots she bought and waves the agreement in his face saying she'll have 10x the money to pay him soon. She tells him it wasn't easy to get the Mikster to sign over the restaurant's mgmt to her, especially with Julie wanting it too. Patrick can't believe his mother will be running one of Salem's finest restaurants, and asks what the catch is. Patrick said they need a gimic to get people back there after a murder there. Bonnie wants to change it to a country and western place where people can come eat baby back ribs and lick their fingers. He asks when he'll get his $$ as he needs it now. She compares him to his father, always wanting things NOW. She tells him not to bug her about it, go see his rich girlfriend Jennifer Horton Deveraux. He denies Jen's his girlfriend, she's just a nice person. He warns Bonnie not to do anything to Jen either OR...Bonnie sits back promising to not hurt Princess Jen.

AT THE PARK, Belle and Shawn continue their chat about where their relationship is headed. She starts to tell him how dreams about when he'll propose what he'll wear and do, but decides she wants to be surprised. He promises when he does propose to her, her every wish will be fulfilled. Philip and Brady are nearby and Philip watches Belle and Shawn from nearby as Brady notices. Phillip snaps out of it and they continue their Nicole debate. Brady tells him that he's two faced by accusing him of lusting after his grandfather's wife while he himself is doing so for his best friend's girl. As Shawn asks Brady about Nicole, Rex leaves to see Belle. She hugs him, happy to see him and sorry for the loss of his dad. Shawn apologizes for accusing Marlena of being the SK. Brady said not only is Marlena a respected doctor, but is married to a former ISA agent who would know if she's the SK (this is going on while John resumes consciousness below). Shawn tells him that Belle's alibi for Marlena convinced him that Marlena's innocent as he knows Belle would never lie. Brady agrees and says the most important thing in the world is to hold on to the woman you love.

We join Belle and Shawn, still in the same spot in the park after dark talking. He brings up accusing her mom as the SK and apologizes for doing so, knowing she'd never lie to him about being with her mom. He raves about how generous she is to forgive him so easily. He sees Brady and needs to give him something (yup, they're lurking in the bushes still too). Shawn walks up and overhears Brady telling Philip that something's wrong. Shawn asks what's wrong and Brady replies it was about men who lust after women they shouldn't.

AT THE PENTHOUSE GRILL (?) just minutes later we see Rex (in a tux) and Mimi (in a red dress) going out for dinner. She tells him he looks like a prince in his tuxedo, not a penguin as he thinks...but he reminds her that he's just a blue collar Brady. She's worried if he can afford their meal, but he tells her nothing is too good for her. We see champagne being poured to the two (are they old enough to drink there?) He tells her how beautiful she looks. He remembers the rough times she stood by him and in his head, the time he showed her the large diamond he had made. Taking her hand, Rex tells her she's been patient and loving, and now he needs to ask her something really important.

Later we see Mimi calling Belle on her cellphone (Shawn's still in the bushes with Brady and Philip as Belle waits patiently on a dark park bench (guess they're not worried about the SK or Horton lurking around). Mimi tells Belle about the fancy dinner and him in a tux and giving her a red rose, just like in Belle's dream...but he's asked every question BUT the big one. He even asked her if she ever dreamed of becoming a brain surgeon (LOL) and wonders why he ever thought that??? She thanks Belle for convincing her to be totally honest with the man she loves and hangs up to return to Rex. Of course her lie to Shawn about being with her mom for hours comes back to haunt Belle and she realizes she has to tell Shawn the truth.

While Rex waits for Mimi to return from the ladies room, he remembers him and Mimi in bed and she called him sexy Rexy. He ponders throwing caution to the wind even if they are penniless. He brings the wool ring Grandpa Shawn gave him out of his pocket as he remembers Grandpa Shawn telling him about his proposal to Caroline and giving him the wool ring. There was only one condition as Grandpa Shawn whispered it in Rex's ear. He recalls that condition out loud, that he had to ask Mimi's mother's permission. We flashback to Rex doing so and getting rejected. Mimi returns and asks if there's anything else he wants to ask her as she remembers Belle's suggestion that Rex is saving the best for last. Conflicted what to do, he asks if she wants dessert as her face falls. She tells him to ask for the check and is trying not to cry.

A DISAPPOINTED MIMI RETURNS TO THE LOFT ALONE, talking to Belle on her cellphone on the way upstairs. Rex dropped her off at the front entrance and left to run an errand. Belle offers to come home, but Mimi feels she's better off alone in the mood she's in. She goes inside and finds Bonnie sitting on the couch and munching on chips watching a game show in the loft. Bonnie tells her that Belle lent her a key (yeah, right!..then how come Belle offered to come home so Mimi wouldn't be alone??). Bonnie explains she didn't want Meems alone after her date with Rex and Mimi figures out that Rex was a gentleman and asked for her hand and Bonnie admits telling him Mimi wasn't ready for marriage yet. Mimi leaps on Bonnie to strangle her.

BACK AT THE PARK we see Rex wandering around in his t shirt and jacket (being he just dropped Mimi off and didn't go home first, he must have had a change of clothes in the car and changed in the car??) He finds Shawn and tells him he will marry Mimi one day. Shawn tells Rex that he and Belle are more in love than ever and nothing will come between them.

AT THE COP SHOP...Hope and Tek watch a mumbling John..they can tell he knows who the killer is. He sees Marlena's face but internally he's conflicted as to what to do... as he starts shaking and spazzing in the chair. Tek unsuccessfully tries to bring John out of it. John flashes back to his and Marlena's signifiant memories...the infamous pier kiss (wow, look at all that hair on his head, LOL) and her feeding him strawberries and whipped cream by the fire as she licks the whipped cream from his face. He remembers their wedding as she walked down the aisle and carrying her from the water in Hawaii and kissing her on the beach. He passes out and feeling his low pulse, Hope says they're losing him. John's unconscious and we see his thoughts. Someone tells him he's at the point of no return. Which direction he goes is his choice. He's asked to choose a door and he nervously goes to try and decide. He can return to his life and confront his wife as the Salem Stalker OR he can keep silent about it for the rest of his life. HE thrashes the chair across the room, saying that's an impossible choice. There's no way he can say he loved such a person. He asked which door he'll choose as Hope holds his unconscious head in her hand. John tells himself that Marlena is the mother of his child and can't be a killer. He comes to. Hope asks if he saw the killer's face and he doesn't answer. Tek thinks John knows, but doesn't want to share the information with them. They tell John about installing a camera at the cemetary as they feel the SK will return to the scene of the crime. They ask John to look at the tape from it. Brady joins them and finds they're downloading video from the graveyard. To himself, John remembers finding out that Marlena bought the suit at Barron's Dept. Store and Shawn finding a button from one of those suits. He remembers seeing Doc run from the scene and finding the muddy footprints at the penthouse. They have still photos of Alice, Celeste and Marlena at the gravesite and seeing the frozen expression on John's face, Hope asks who's the SK is

Episode #9773
Taped 3/3/04
Director – Herb Stein

The young guys gather at Cheatin’ Heart to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, while Mimi reams her mother out, Belle visits hers, and John continues to deny knowledge of serial killer.

REX IS ALONE AT CHEATING HEART, drinking green beer when Philip joins him. Rex thinks the beer tastes awful, lol. (O.K. folks, can you BELIEVE that no one is at the Brady Pub on St. Paddy’s Day – shame on Days!) Phil scolds Rex for blowing Mimi off when she was expecting a proposal. Rex is shocked, as how did Mimi get that idea. Phil tells him he flunked Women 101, as “important question” means a proposal. Rex is crushed. (Let’s see, everyone got up this morning, the day after Valentine’s Day, when both Victor & Doug died, and it is NOW more than a month later, and St. Patrick’s Day. Salem should be renamed Brigadoon! Lol) Philip calls Shawn for backup. He arrives, the guys are playing pool, and Madison comes up, teasing Philip about “the love of his life”. He changes the subject, telling the guys it is no one they know, but she realizes that one of those guys must be hooked up with “his” gal. As he fantasizes about Belle being there, with him nuzzling her neck, Madison watches him.

MIMI FINALLY LETS GO OF BONNIE’S THROAT , & throws a major fit (with good cause). She rants about Bonnie refusing permission for Rex to marry Mimi, and won’t let Bonnie trot out the guilt trip scenario (labor hours, stretch marks, 2 jobs to feed her kids, lousy husband, etc. etc.) She tells Bonnie that she is just jealous of her kids, so jealous she had to steal all their money from them. It is always about the money, & the thing she wishes had never happed to her was being born a Lockhart!. Bonnie is crushed, cries, Mimi apologizes. Bonnie talks of how she always wanted to be her best friend, Mimi says Belle is, to which Bonnie replies……why? She stole your boyfriend. She drags up Mimi’s crush of the past, & tells her she can still get Shawn, that Belle can hook up with Philip. She then tells Mimi about her own good fortune, & how she is partners w/Mickey at Tuscany, intending to make it a country western bar. Mimi tells her she is demented. Shawn calls at this point, telling Mimi to come to Cheating Heart, and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Bonnie tries to stop her, but Mimi says she loves Rex, he loves her, and she is on her way.

IN THE PARK, Belle & Shawn sit on a park bench, talking of the effects the murders have had on the various next of kin. Shawn comforts her (hmmm, did not realize that Belle has lost any family members….oh, I forgot for a second….it IS all about Belle, isn’t it?) Shawn gets a phone call from Rex, asking him to come to Cheating Heart. Belle tells him to go ahead, she is going to visit her mom.

MARLENA TELLS HERSELF she feels someone is still a threat to her. She takes a piece of paper, writing Potential Threats at the top, and lists Celeste, then Shawn, then John. As she writes each name, she visualizes herself at the moment before killing each of them. She uses a lighter to set the paper on fire, watches it burn partially, and sets it down in a convenient glass bowl. She calls John, sweet talking him about having him leave, wanting assurances he still loves her and believes her, no longer suspecting her. John says he knows the woman he married is not a killer……not exactly the answer she wanted, Marlena replies. She hangs up, looks at the paper in the bowl. The fire is out, and only John’s name remains. She paces the room, talking aloud, wondering when this will end, begging not to have to hurt any of her family.
Belle arrives, & Marlena is happy to see her 21 year old daughter. (Yep, the “kids” have all been slightly aged again – no longer “the teens”, lol) Belle tells her mom she wants to tell Shawn the truth about not being with her mom when Doug was killed, & once more, Marlena picks up her trusty but deadly letter opener, hiding it behind her back. (this truly is becoming tiresome) Marlena claims she was right there in her apt.She advises Belle not to tell Shawn right now, as it is not a good time, the trust may be difficult to rebuild. Belle sees the burnt paper with John’s name on it…..asks about it, but Marlena claims she was writing a letter to John, and could not find all the right words. (yeah, sure, that is why his name is all by itself in the middle of a piece of paper. LOL) They hug, and decide to go for a walk, as Belle suggests the park. (sure, why worry about a tiger on the loose, in addition to a beserk serial killer). As they stroll the peaceful park, Shawn arrives. Marlena leaves them alone, but circles round to hide in the bushes and listen in. She comments to herself aloud that if Belle tells Shawn, she will be mourning him, instead of warning him.

OUTSIDE THE CHEATING HEART Mimi arrives to find Rex. She hugs him, apologizes for her mother’s refusal to give permission for him to marry her. She tells him she told her mother she doesn’t want to be a Lockhart any more, but that she wants to be Mrs. Rex…….Brady, DiMera, whatever. She tells Rex that today is St. Paddy’s Day, a time to celebrate. But it is also Sadie Hawkins Day (a day invented in the comic strip, Lil Abner, lolol) & that on that day, girls can ask guys to dances, on dates, etc. So since he could not do it before, she is taking advantage…and she gets down on one knee, asking a shocked Rex to marry her and be the love of her life forever.

HOPE & TEK PRESSURE JOHN for a glimmer of memory. Brady wonders what is going on. Hope looks at the video again, commenting on Gran coming to Tom’s grave, and then Celeste. And then Marlena….figuring she must be going to pay respects at Roman’s grave. Tek remarks Roman’s grave is not in that vicinity. John takes offense, asking Tek if he is accusing her. Tek replies he only made an observation, not an accusation. He reminds everyone that the killer is someone they all know, and questions John about his seizures. Obviously, John must have been wrestling with something he could not handle. John gets a phone call (Marlena…..see above) and leaves the room. Hope & Tek argue. Brady sits down at the computer, & begins typing away, suggesting different pics & persons, but we do not hear names or see pics. (So now BRADY has free rein of police files, etc. Jeez…….!) Tek comments that Victor’s death does not fit the serial killer’s MO (Oh, yeah, and the other deaths are all exactly the same, right?) and then compares the killer’s profile to Marlena, step by step. (Oooh, looks like Tek got hold of the Salem Brain today!) He adds he has been unable to confirm Marlena’s time in Colorado yet, but is working on it. Brady brings up Marlena being poisoned, and Belle vouching for her mother. John returns, and says he cannot name the killer. John & Brady leave. In the outer office, John tells Brady that Belle lied about being with Marlena when Doug was killed. He adds he doesn’t know who the killer is, but when he finds out, he’ll make sure they never kill again. And the previews roll, showing…

Hope telling Bo that unless he slows down, he is gonna wind up dead and in a grave.

Shawn telling Belle he thinks he knows what she needs, and is going to take her home to bed (a yawn from this spoiler on that statement)

Ghost Victor tells Nicole he won’t let her tear his family apart, to which she replies that she doesn’t have to. Vic’t grandson will do it for her.

John to Marlena, as she turns around…..”O, My God, it IS you!

Episode #9774
Taped 3/3/04
Director – Herb Stein

Summary: Mimi proposes to Rex…Nicole is visited by Victor again…Hope tries to get Bo to slow down…Belle continues to consider telling Shawn the truth…John confronts Marlena.

Outside the Cheatin’ Heart…Mimi gets down on one knee and proposes to Rex, taking him y surprise. He doesn’t accept her proposal and can’t commit to her, her mom was right. She is angry as he tries to explain that he has no money, no job and no prospects. She feels like an idiot and rushes off. He catches her in the park and tries to explain. He tells her that he loves her and is IN love with her and has been for a long time (as we see flashbacks of them). He says that he can’t lose her, but just can’t marry her now, he just wants to be able to support her when they do. He asks her to wait for him and she says yes. She apologizes for being so crazy and finally admits that she isn’t ready for marriage either. He promises that someday they will get married…he will always love her and for her to never doubt that.

At the Cop Shop...John and Brady are still there and they talk about Tek’s suspicions, neither of them able to believe it. They change the subject and Brady talks about his future with Chloe. He is concerned that Nicole will stop the building of the concert hall now that Victor is dead, but is sure that Nicole will never come between them. He goes to leave and assures John again that there is no way that Marlena could be the serial killer. After he is gone, John just wishes he could believe that.

At the Kiriakis Mansion…Nicole and Henderson get into it over an empty liquor decanter and she mouths off at him and sends him for more vodka. She turns to find Victor standing there, telling her to burn in hell. She goes on about inheriting his empire but he reminds her that he has sons and grandsons that won’t stand by and let her. He reminds her that it didn’t work for Anna Nicole and now it isn’t going to work for “ditzy Nicole” either. But, she tells him that she has an ace in the hole…Brady. She tells him that she plans on halting construction on the concert hall and sell the materials for scrap. He calls her a “selfish money-grubbing whore”. She is ranting at him when Brady comes in asking who she is talking to. She covers and says she was talking to herself because the house is so lonely. She calls Brady her only friend. Henderson returns with the vodka and she puts on a show, telling him that she wants coffee, being that she has a mountain of paperwork to go through. Brady offers his assistance and says he will handle everything with the concert hall and asks for her signature on the papers to release funds. (BTW, Victor is still there observing all this). Victor taunts her as she stalls. She tells Brady that Victor has family to consider and he accuses her of wanting it all for herself. She lays it on thick, telling him that he is her only friend and has stood by her. She finally signs the papers and an excited Brady rushes off to call Chloe. After he leaves, Victor calls her a devious bitch and asks what she is up to. He says that he will not allow her to tear apart his family…she says not to worry, Brady will do it for her.

Brady rushes outside and calls Chloe to give her the good news (as Nicole eavesdrops). Victor taunts her and she asks if he doesn’t have a sewer or attic to haunt with his beloved Caroline. He warns her that if she hurts his family, he will see her in hell…then he disappears. She takes a candle and sets fire to the model of the concert hall, saying that there is no way that Chloe will ever come home.

At the Brady House…Hope comes home to find Bo asleep on the sofa. She wakes him and tries to get him to go to bed, but he is determined to catch the killer if he has to work night and day nonstop. She is worried sick about him, afraid he is working too much and too hard, but he is determined. She says that they are now also targets and he needs his rest and to take a break. He says that lives are at stake and that people are depending on him…he can’t let them down. She finally convinces him to rest for a couple hours. After he falls asleep on the sofa, she slips out, saying that she can’t let the killer destroy the man she loves…she is going after them.

In the Park…Marlena is listening from the bushes as Belle and Shawn talk. Belle tells him the truth about being with her mom. She steps out , telling them that it is true, she IS the stalker. Shawn flies off the handle at her as she pulls out a gun and shoots him. Belle is screaming as Marlena says something about her whining and she cocks the gun again. Yes, it was only a fantasy…as Marlena is still listening, with her hand on the gun. Shawn pushes Belle to tell him what is wrong, but she doesn’t say. He offers to take her home to bed.

At the Penthouse…John lets himself in, but Marlena isn’t there. He looks around and picks up a picture of them, saying “It can’t be you”. He says if it is, he must stop her and get her help. He sees the letter opener and thinks it could have been the weapon used on Doug. As he is off in another room, Marlena returns home to find the door ajar. She goes in calling for him. He comes in to the living room asking where she has been and she says “out”. He has flashbacks of seeing her in the cemetery and says “Oh my God…it IS you”. He says it was her in the graveyard and tells her about Tek hypnotizing him. But she denies it, trying to explain it away. He tells her that Tek suspects her anyway, but is having trouble convincing anyone else. She claims to be in shock. He grabs her by the arm asking where she has been and she tells him that she just left Belle in the park. He grabs his phone and calls her as Marlena begins to cry. He calls Belle at Shawns and she confirms that she was with Marlena and they had a good talk. He tells her to stay close to Shawn.

Just moments before, Shawn had been trying to get Belle to tell him what was wrong (as she had flashbacks of talking with her mom). But she tells him that she is just tired. After the call from John, she talks about how strange he sounded. She tells Shawn that she needs to tell him something and finally confesses and tells him the truth…only to turn over to find him asleep.

Meanwhile, when John gets off the phone, Marlena is furious with him as she turns on the tears. She says she is no common criminal, he says no, she is a cold blooded murderer and it is time to confess. She denies it, saying it is all like a bad dream. John says it is no dream…she is sick and needs help. He grabs her by the arm, asking why she did it. She says she is sorry…she loves him and that there is only one thing left for her to do, as she reaches behind her and grabs the letter opener…as the previews show…

On the Next DAYS OF OUR LIVES…

Julie is telling Sami that the best sex is always after a big fight. Sami says she wouldn’t know about that as Lucas chimes in and says she just won’t admit it, but she knows…

Marlena says “What you suspect is true…” (as we see flashbacks of her weapons…the scalpel, liquor bottle, brick, knife…etc.). Then she says “I am the killer” as John looks at her in shock…

And the credits roll…

Episode #9775
Taped 2/25/04
Director – Albert Alarr

Summary: Julie opens Sami's and Lucas' eyes at Doug's wake while Marlena knows how to push the buttons in John's brain to make him believe she's not the killer and why...

LUCAS comes to pick up Will to take him over to Gran's for Doug's wake. He tells Sami the visiting hours are over, but wanted to take Will over to show support for Julie and Gran. She tells him she's not going with them. Sami can't handle going to another wake or funeral and is worried about her mother. He tells her whether she likes it or not, they are related and he'd like her there with them. Will comes out in his suit and asks her to join them too as he knows his dad is sad and knows her being there would help. Sami tells him she's not dressed appropriately and they're already late as she sees them to the door.

JULIE AND GRAN are in the living room with a fire crackling behind them (everyone else apparently has come and gone) and Doug lying in an open coffin just feet in front of them. They reflect on how many people loved Doug, then what a rascal and con man he was when he first came to Salem. (gee, Hope kissed Bo on the couch and went to the police station vowing to catch the killer...didn't she, Bo, Shawn D. even go to her dad's wake?) Gran said the love of Addie and Julie changed him, but the biggest change was having his daughter Hope. We're treated some old flashbacks of Doug and Hope when she was just a few years old, on her 18th birthday when he and Julie gave her jewelry, Doug saying goodbye to her before she and Bo took baby Shawn D off on their around the world sail when she tells him she wished she had known her mother know then she's a mom too. Alice tells Julie that she was the only one who had more impact on him. We see flashbacks of a much younger Doug and Julie as they argue over her son David's girlfriend and Doug's Place (his night club). Claiming their marriage was never dull (that's a fact), we see them years later as they're found in the park at night by a policeman. Julie tells her Gran there will never be another man like Doug for her.

Lucas and Will see Doug and then talk to Julie about Doug. Lucas tells Will how Doug and Julie were world travelers and she tells him all the countries they've been to. Pictures from the real life couple's trips flash up on the screen as we see them on their trips. Will asks if she can tell him about their adventures some time. Julie looks a little sad and he tells he she doesn't have to, but she responds that it would be sad, but happy as well, to remember their life together. The doorbell rings and Sami arrives, dressed in black. She apologizes for being late, but wanted to be there for her son. Lucas is glad she's there for Will too, but you can tell his look knows she's there for him too. Her mouth moves before her brain as she first comments about how Doug didn't have the sense to tell someone who the SK was before he was killed. Will and Lucas try to stop her, but Julie agrees on that point. Sami then goes on about how Doug probably felt guilty for them bringing Horton to town who eventually got Tony killed. Lucas cues her and Sami apologizes, telling Julie she really is sorry and knows when you lose the love of your life there's nothing that can be said to make you feel better (especially when that's saying the love of your life was stupid, haha). She tells Julie that love like theirs doesn't happen anymore, stuff like fairytales that are magical and love for the ages. Julie tells her that's an uncharacteristically nice thing to say, a lovely thing to say, but not true. Julie explains their love was real life, not make believe. It wasn't always delirious joy. Bless her heart, Alice senses it's time to get Will out of the room, haha, and suggests they go to the kitchen for some cookies. Will says he's not hungry (as Sami gives him the maternal thump on the arm, LOL), but Gran tells him she is and he comes over to help her (as does Lucas). Julie tells Sami she and Doug were married three times as we're treated to a short flashback of each of their weddings. Sami tells Julie she believes Doug and her were soul mates and meant to be together. Julie explains that Doug said calm waters made for a dull cruise as a little turbulence made things more exciting. The best sex was after a big fight. Sami denies knowing about that, but Lucas (who's watching and listening closely) says she knows that. Wise Julie tells them she senses there would be a lot of surprises if the two of them gave way to what they're feeling. Sami and Lucas exchange looks. Julie feels the sparks between them. Sami denies it and Lucas and Sami start arguing. Julie interrupts and tells them that love is a lot of work, not even vacation days...but it so worthwhile when you have a friend, companion and a lover. It just gets better every day because your life is amplified by sharing it with your own true love. Then you can look back to remember where you started, what you've been through and who you are and you know what life's about and where you're going. She strokes Doug's face and as we see Julie's flashback of her and Doug's first kiss, she tells Lucas and Sami from the first kiss to the last. Julie remembers dancing with Doug and Sami confesses to wanting that type of love. Julie looks at them and says if they have even a fraction of the love she and Doug shared, they'll the happiest couple on earth. Sami and Lucas gaze into each other's eyes.

JOHN TELLS MARLENA that he knows she's the SK. Fondling her handy letter opener behind her, she asks if he's told the police that. He tells her no, he wanted to be sure first, like he is now. He saw her face after she killed Doug. Calling his bluff, she dials the police department and hands him the phone, telling him to turn her in. She threatens if he doesn't, she will. He hangs up the phone. He tells her about Tek hypnotizing him earlier and that he saw her face and knows it was her. She knows he saw her body, but not her face, and admits being the SK. She moves over to her purse to fondle her gun for a few seconds, then walks away as they debate how John got this idea in his head. John asks if she means Shawn, but she tells him no. Someone who made their life hell, Stefano Dimera. He tells her they can't blame a dead man for these deaths. She disagrees and tries to tell him Stefano programmed him to believe that anyone he loved will ultimately betray him. She tells him about the nights he's tossed and turned with nightmares. She tells him about the mantras, parts of his indoctrination, he said in his sleep. He asks what he said and she said one was “what you see isn't real, and there is no such thing as real goodness”. She tells him he also said relationships are all based on lies and destined to die in the end and you must strike first to survive. Stefano never wanted him happy and to be his perpetual pawn because he was jealous of everything John had and he didn't. Stefano implanted all those things in him long before they met, but perfect revenge to destroy her because she was a threat. He's been fighting those thoughts for years and they're surfacing now. John listens, trying not to believe it, but she knows how to work him as she encourages him to stand alone and fight those thoughts. She begs him not to let that bastard win. John agrees that must be what it is and begs her for her forgivess as she does so with tears in her eyes (guess the letter opener and gun get the night off). He kisses her and they hug as we see tears running down both their faces. He tells her he's so relieved it's not her and now he can focus on catching the killer before that “witch” kills again. She smiles....

as the previews for the next DAYS OF OUR LIVES roll...

Tek and Hope talk about Marlena. Hope asks even if Marlena got home in time, what would her motive me. Tek tells Hope to forget she knows Marlena, how would she analyze the evidence...

Marlena tells John she needs to know he loves her and he promises to never doubt her again...

Sami looks at Lucas and asks if he thinks she has a chance at having true love...

Episode #9776
Taped 2/27/04
Director – Phil Sogard

Summary: Julie continues to mourn Doug as one more visitor drops by…Sami admits to being moved by Julie, Alice and Jenn…Tek continues to compile evidence against Marlena…Marlena delights in pulling the wool over John’s eyes…Tom calls out to Alice.

At Alice’s...Jennifer comes by to pay her respects as she mourns along with Julie. Sami feels sorry as she watches but poor thing can’t help but get in trouble. When Jen explains that Abby is at Jo and Vern’s, Sami asks if Abby still blames her for pulling the plug on Jack, as Julie and Lucas both have that “I can’t believe you said that look”. Sami apologizes and then Jen feels the baby move. Sami does it again and comments on Jen’s high-risk pregnancy. Julie calls her insensitive and Sami apologizes again. Lucas gets Will and the three of them leave. After she is gone, Julie and Jen say Sami means well, she just has that “open mouth, insert foot” syndrome. (So true). Later, Jen, Alice and Julie talk about Doug and Julie is still upset he didn’t go to the police, but is sure he had a reason. Alice suggests that Julie go to bed, but she says no and decides to go for a drive. After kissing Doug goodbye and telling him not to worry, she leaves. Later, Alice thinks maybe Jen should go be with her, but she understands that Julie needs alone time, like she did. Jen wishes that Grandpa could have been there. Alice explains that he was, but he was not much help. She tells her about him calling her to the graveyard and how she ran into Celeste there and how she told her that another Horton would die. She tells Jen that she is determined to find out what Tom was trying to tell her. Later, she is looking at a picture of her and Tom and she hears his voice telling her to go to his grave…the answer she seeks is there.

Sami, Lucas and Will…return to her apartment as Lucas chastises her for things that she said at Alice’s. Will tells them that Alice was so sad and that he wants to spend more time with her. After he leaves for bed, Lucas wants to discuss something with Sami. He asks her about the things that Julie said and asks if she doesn’t want that kind of love in her life. But she has no comeback (smartass comeback as he says). She admits that she was moved by Julie, Alice and Jen and how she admires Jen’s strength to carry her baby to term. She says that even though all three of them are alone now, they are not alone…they have the memories of the ones they loved. She wants that, but is sure she will never have it. She says maybe she is too selfish or wasted all her chances at love. Lucas says that she can find it, to focus on the good things in her life and let go of the bitterness, such as her hate for John and Kate. She starts in on John, then asks Lucas to just leave and storms to her bedroom.

At the Penthouse…John and Marlena hug and he asks her to forgive him for suspecting her. He vows to never let anything come between them. She asks why he thought she could be the killer and he explains about Tek’s theories. He shows her the pictures from the graveyard on his laptop, as she contemplates getting rid of Tek. He asks why she was at the graveyard. She explains that she was there to visit Roman’s grave and to light a candle for Doug, but ran into Alice and Celeste and joined them. John says he is going to the cop shop to talk to Tek and Hope and she tells him that she is going to read a bit and then head to bed. He grabs her and kisses her hard and mentions moving back in. But she is not ready for that. He says he will never doubt her again and leaves. After he is gone, she starts giggling and dancing around and
